A John Wayne movie is almost always worth watching, but I always had a hard time suspending disbelief when watching his '70s cop movies. He was something like 66 years old when he made McQ...why is he still on the force? :) I think you're pension-eligible by now, McQ!

On the other hand, the '73 Trans Am he drove in that movie was awesome, until those crooks wrecked it.

Only thing about Wayne, he didn't really "act." Whether he was ridin' heard, runnin' a wagon train, shootin' down Japs or this here, he was still the "wall I'll tell ya, pilgrim.........."

Right and that to me was why he was great. He "was what he was" "wherever he was". He was simply himself.

I agree, the parts were almost made for 'him'. His mannerism, his vernacular. Even when he was (mis)cast as Genghis Khan! What a joke...! No wonder producer Howard Hughes bought back all the prints of this turkey and kept them out of circulation!

"They say" that's the movie that killed him. Look it up. It's uncanny how many people associated with that film came down with cancer and eventually died from it.

Yup, too bad he even chose to do that turd. I actually thought that move was called "Genghis Khan" but that was later with Omar Sharif. I'm sure that one was better....

We use to run into John Wayne at black angus cattle sales in and around Okla., he was not quite as big as they had you to believe , his grand son Tommy Morrison wasn`t even 6 ft. , either , all the boxing hype had him a t 6 ft.
John was scared shitless in the movie in the chase scenes , u could see it in his face !
Wish he was still w/ us making movies !~!

John lived in Newport Beach, CA parts of the year where his boat is docked. My mom ran into him at a local supermarket, pushing his own shopping cart! My sister even somehow went to dinner with Patrick Wayne himself. She worked with a high end suit designer that had many celebrity customers. I like him, the '70 super liberal Playboy article was a hit piece.
