I may have "pushed" the transom varnish weather LOL.......

12:30 and barely banging on the 39F door, when I started earlier................

It's too cold outdoors to varnish the transom, so I brought it in the house, laid it on cardboard on the range because that was the "most out of the way" and varnished it up. Let's add this up:

1...It's 10:30 and only THIRTY FOUR degrees outside

2...I have the furnace set on 77 and that is not enough because.........

3...I have the range hood exhaust fan going

4...I have the furnace fan going full time

5...I have the bedroom window open, with the basement exhaust fan running

6...I'm sitting in here with a denim jacket because there's a "cool breeze" going past.

I sure hope this son of a ***** gets dry soon!!!!

got any of those hot halogen work lights to shine on it? Some direct radiant heat might help speed it up a bit! Definitely a helluva week to try and paint anything..

I just looked a minute ago and it had warmed to a blistering 58 here on the not so sunny Ca coast

When I saw your title I thought it was a post from PEI or somewhere like that.
Hope you can isolate from that while you are sleeping.
That thing is going to wreak for days.

It is actually not bad. I just got through (it's tacky) taking the whole mess on cardboard down to the basement, with the exhaust fan door propped part way open. I think the worst is over. It's a blistering 41F right now at 3:20PM

I've decided to do the absolute minimum to get this "new boat" on the water and try it out when the wx permits. I want to see if it seems fast, or a tub, and how it handles. Then I'll decide to continue on or sell it. Besides, I may get a "buy" on something better. There was one that was "close" the other day.

The boat: Paid 200 for two boats, 2 outboards, and two trailers. One boat immediately got sawed up and to the dump. One trailer is really decent, and one outboard became a parts motor for the other two 57 Johnson 35's

(I guess in reality I bought 1 boat, 1 trailer, and 1.7 outboards LOL) The second trailer would be fixable/ useable with "enough work." I'm considering making one of the trailers a "convertable flatbed" for those times I need a little trailer.



The "before"

I was planning on replacing the dash, but the wood is solid, so I'm going (if I keep it) just overlay it with sheet aluminum



It's just under 14' and rated for 40hp. If I keep it I have plans to build a stern splash well and that will strengthen the stern as well. It has some pretty stout knee braces

That thing ought to move out with a 40 on it! Good luck! May end up putting weight of some sort up front. Hard to steer doing wheelstands

The little 12ft Crestliner did 30 with a 35hp. I'm not sure I could better that in either boat with trim or otherwise. At the moment, the largest I have (it's apart, lower unit) is the 55hp Chrysler/ Sea King which came on the "free" boat which I junked. It's a fairly light twin, much lighter than the old Johnson/ Evinrude V4 50 hp I made a front shelf for the Crestliner to hold the fuel tank.
