NO!
“Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia,” Mr. Hanks said in a statement. “We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”

Well NBA suspended ALL games after a player tested +ve.
People can "laugh" at overreacting but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
My work is implementing BIG changes. I work in municipal government. Getting individual keyboards, splitting up the crews into smaller groups.

NHL....Ohio is implementing BIG changes, affects Columbus Blue Jackets and Cleveland Cavaliers. Also Santa Clara with San Jose sharks.

But no mention for the need of a 2 year supply of toilet paper...hmmm.....

Matt's wife was at the wally world night before last. She said they had NO toilet paper in the whole store. THAT right there is the media's fault.

I worked at the USPS when the Anthrax disaster happened. The facility I was at had Biohazard Detection Devices installed on the first real pinch point of the AFCS, the machine that cancels stamps. Also had a vacuum system installed. The BDS was only set up to detect Anthrax. I talked to their rep on a daily basis, he told me that the BDS could be calibrated to check for damn near anything. And that it was calibrated to catch the slightest trace of Anthrax, an amount so small it was not hazardous to us. We had a few decontamination drills. The AFCS was setup so that it could not be started without the BDS running. I found out the hard way that Homeland Security closely monitored the BDS equipment. Sunday was the day the BDS was not serviced, no mail collection so no need to service them. We had all the chemicals to service them, and the maintenance crew was trained to service them. The head boss ordered me to fire up an AFCS on a Sunday. Homeland Security was there in under 10 minutes. Several of us got hauled off the work room floor and interrogated by Homeland Security and the FBI....that was fun.
The Post Office, prior to 9-11 and the Anthrax disaster used to have Public tours. Once the BDS gear was put in that stopped. When the news crew showed up for the annual Christmas report they were instructed to not show the BDS device on TV.

Better safe than sorry....could not agree more. So some sporting events got cancelled....ain't like the planet is going to stop spinning...

At the end of the day, celebrities are no different than we are-they are people. God knows how this all works out. He’s in control.

The real death rate from this virus is 1%... less than any of the other flu's we have had in the last 50 years. Six cases here in WI.... one person has recovered. Hits the elderly who have resperatory issues.

This would be nothing to worry about if the press wasn't going nuts about anything and everything...

Yes Sir...it is....

It’s not the media’s fault that a large percentage of the people that shop at Walmart are morons.

Is the 24 hour non-stop barrage of coverage raising anxiety? Yup, it sure is.

But there’s at least a couple dozen things people should “stock up” on before toilet paper. Food, water, anything you might want for a respiratory infection and fever- cough medicine, aspirin, Gatorade or pedialyte, etc etc.

But what did we run out of? Hand sanitizer and toilet paper. There’s no media outlet telling anyone to buy toilet paper. It’s just stupid people. Plain old soap works better than hand sanitizer if you’ve got a sink. Masks I get, although they’re usually misused so badly they’re about as useful as a 6 month supply of toilet paper for a respiratory infection. But at least they make sense.

Heck, the president just put a 30 day travel moratorium on flights to Europe. Seems like he thinks it’s getting to be an issue, that little travel deal is gonna cost hundreds of millions in tourism money.

Current death rate is 3.4% worldwide

WHO Director-General's opening remarks at the media briefing on COVID-19 - 3 March 2020

But that’s the average, in the US the death rate is more like 5.9%

Worst for the flu was the Spanish flu, that was only 2%.

And it’s much worse for older folks. Most people on this website are probably looking at a mortality rate of 8% or more. And high blood pressure is an “underlying medical condition” just FYI.

I mean, we don’t need to panic and the coverage is getting pretty wild. But a crap load more people will die before this is over.

It's like The Sword Of Damacles.
I'm getting so tired of hearing about it that I'm almost ready to "expose " myself and get it over with.
Sounds like I'm going to get it sooner or later and if I had it now and needed hospital at least I know I could get in one.
Beat the rush.
Go ahead and kill me or make me immune.
Any one remembers chicken pox parties?

1 case undocumented in manitoba as of today. There is a toilet paper buying frenzy here too. As well as masks. Dental offices are going to shut down if they dont have masks. Most only have a 1 month supply.

Hope Tom and his wife get through it
Ironic that "Inferno" with Tom Hanks was about spreading a virus

I dont care about red x's but am curious? The pic I posted was from TV. Everything I posted was fact?
Sharks and Blue Jackets will play empty home games as per LA Times and TSN.

@70aarcuda why the red x?
I got 2 in one day dangit lol.
The "white hats" here at plant are taking steps to minimize the chances of contracting/transmitting so cancelling tours is quite possible.
When this is all "done" lots of people will be saying "see there was nothing to worry about"....meanwhile it's the measures that they are criticizing that is helping to minimize transmission lol
We give tours here at the water treatment plant. THAT will stop if it hasn't already.

Absolutely agree.
When I heard that I thought, toilet paper???
I probably have two weeks worth of old socks.:D

Seriously though, perfect info.

One part that kinda sucks is we really don't know how many are infected.
We know how many have been tested and how many of those died and those are the number we are going by.
When the virus infection count almost doubles in one day we can pretty much tell the virus is moving faster than we are.
