Tom Hanks has Coronavirus.

It’s not the media’s fault that a large percentage of the people that shop at Walmart are morons.

Is the 24 hour non-stop barrage of coverage raising anxiety? Yup, it sure is.

But there’s at least a couple dozen things people should “stock up” on before toilet paper. Food, water, anything you might want for a respiratory infection and fever- cough medicine, aspirin, Gatorade or pedialyte, etc etc.

But what did we run out of? Hand sanitizer and toilet paper. There’s no media outlet telling anyone to buy toilet paper. It’s just stupid people. Plain old soap works better than hand sanitizer if you’ve got a sink. Masks I get, although they’re usually misused so badly they’re about as useful as a 6 month supply of toilet paper for a respiratory infection. But at least they make sense.

Heck, the president just put a 30 day travel moratorium on flights to Europe. Seems like he thinks it’s getting to be an issue, that little travel deal is gonna cost hundreds of millions in tourism money.

Current death rate is 3.4% worldwide

WHO Director-General's opening remarks at the media briefing on COVID-19 - 3 March 2020

But that’s the average, in the US the death rate is more like 5.9%

Worst for the flu was the Spanish flu, that was only 2%.

And it’s much worse for older folks. Most people on this website are probably looking at a mortality rate of 8% or more. And high blood pressure is an “underlying medical condition” just FYI.

I mean, we don’t need to panic and the coverage is getting pretty wild. But a crap load more people will die before this is over.

Absolutely agree.
When I heard that I thought, toilet paper???
I probably have two weeks worth of old socks.:D

Seriously though, perfect info.

One part that kinda sucks is we really don't know how many are infected.
We know how many have been tested and how many of those died and those are the number we are going by.
When the virus infection count almost doubles in one day we can pretty much tell the virus is moving faster than we are.
