I went drag racing!

I had about 20psi in the tires. I thought it was an good burnout to get the tires warm but definitely not a huge smoke show. The car launched straight and I think the track was cold since this pass was at 8pm and the outside temp was in the low 60s with a little wind. I pulled the plugs and they all look like this which I think is lean...
Run 20 psi warm tire. Drive thru the water box and do a quick burnout to clean the tire.

How can you see it's lean at speed? Looks like idle and cruise are fine, but you can't see WOT in a picture like that. He needs to cut the shell off.
My bad! It looked completely white on my phone screen, looked at on monitor and it looks pretty good. But you are correct, you would have to see inside the shell to determine what it’s doing on top end. A little more color on it or wouldn’t be a bad thing, though.

With a red pump and regulator I don’t think your fuel pressure is an issue. Probably will get where you are going with the aforementioned gradual tuning changes and a lot of track time.

Needs a 292 mopar cam to go faster!!:D just kidding! May need timing adjustments and bigger carb likes others have suggested.

Not sure who mentioned it previously but they were spot on. When dialing in a car for track duty change one thing at a time and see and understand the effects. And nothing absolutely nothing has more value than the seat time. The more comfortable you are with your car and the whole process the faster and more consistent you will become. And again echoing a previous post compete against yourself and the clock, the other car is simply there. Unless of course they get squirrel on ya and try and come across!

I think you are at sea level. I'd guess your car's combo should be about mid 12's (with more cfm's). That's good news, always fun to find more.

Mid 12's with a 750DP?.....I don't think so, even with a bit better hook I can't see it, @100 mph the hp isn't there@3500lbs, low 13's perhaps at best to 13.0's.
I ran 13.3's@101 with my 3550lb Cuda. I added race gears/converter/bigger tyres, that was worth around .4 sec. Motor mods made another 67hp, car ran 12.4's@108.....but as you say the fun is in trying new things.

Based on mph, should be seeing an elapsed time of 13.2. But, as stated with seat time, once you figure out what’s it takes to make the car hook to its full potential and at what rpm it responds best to launching and shifting, you may see a little more mph hour, too. I hope we get to see how much e.t. you’ll be able get just by tuning (whole car, not just engine) and driving changes. I think it’s possible there’s a little more than 13.20s in your combination as it is. Still a good run for first time at the track with it.

As stated before, no video of the race but here is the burnout before my run.

Do not do the burnout in the water box. You are throwing water into the wheel wells and it drips on the tire at the starting line. Drive around the water, back in, pull forward and then do your burnout. The front street tires will also drag water to the start line when you drive thru.

Your car has a future mid 12 with what you have. Get it there before throwing parts at it. You are very close to what I run as a combo. Make sure your fuel system is up to the task. 34* total timing and as much initial as you can. I run 30* initial on pump gas. 18psi cold/20 psi warm on tire pressure. I launch at 2K and shift at 6200 with the same cam and converter, only difference is I run a 4.10 with 255 drag radial. You will launch better with a DP carb but sort out what you have first to baseline your car. Have fun. The new cars are quick up top but don't 60' well. Get your car to hook and they won't catch you.

Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions. I appreciate it. I just wish I could get back to the track and test out my changes. Since I have a lot more free time than I was expecting, I pulled my distributor cap and saw this.... I think that probably cant be helpful in a racing situation so I ordered a new cap and rotor.

good run by the way, I'm thinking a 150 shot May perk it up a little!

Mderoy340, what car do you have and what does your car run?
67 Dart in my avatar, 340 IMM RHS X heads, 750 Proform, Airgap, XS274S, 1.6 Hughes rockers, TTI step, 999 low gear set lockup disabled with TA 3200 tight converter, 4.10/27" or 26" tire.
11.8-11.9 normal air, best 11.7
The same combo with my home ported 66cc J heads would run 12.3-12.4
My car has slowed down a tenth and I'm swapping the mechanical pump for electric return system. You need a good fuel system to run the 1/4 and maintain a flat, stable fuel curve.

Well ****, we can add this to the list of things that went wrong. Who knew two runs down the quarter mile could be so expensive lol.
