Refreshing 360 after 10 years....

We went to push car out of trailer to wash it....nice puddle of gender neutral fluid under it.....dam aluminum TCI pan leaking along the edge of it.....out the car comes ....onto the 4 post hoist...R&R tranny pan...using Summit aluminum pan...

Car sounds pretty good....but Tomorrow is show time...see what the old 360 can do...carb is still jetted for sea level...and shift light needs to be moved up....
boy we missed that one on the 408 engine in Bakersfield....was set at 6300 rpm...

Car has brand new tires.....needed a better burn out and that is what she did...now we have a good head wind...

Ok....we had our sea level jets still in the car...dropping down to our Vegas jets...dropping 2 sizes front and back...
 
Car is now picking up the front tires and carrying them......we also bumped up the two step from 3200 to 3400 rpm...

not bad for a spare motor....lol...
still using the TTi 1 7/8 headers....instead of the hooker 1 3/4 headers
gearing in the Dana is 4.30 instead of the 4.56 we run with the 360 motors
but i am using a 2.74/1.55 low gear set to help make up the gearing...
these are the SM heads with 2.055 intake valve that Brian at IMM did...

once the 408 is repaired...this spare 360 will end up in my 71 Demon...

And nothing broke....lol.....

360 Dart ran good today.......3 passes no problems....ran a best of 10.56 i think......
 
Running into a head wind all day....Dart ran 10.60s .......and went to the second round ......had a couple of small issues...transmissions working like a charm...
 
About time! Hope your tools will collect dust this season!
 
Welll...is two weeks away...got a couple things to do...the RTV i used on the end seals is ****...picked up a tube RTV that says it stays pliable ....yeah...it does....need to reseal the ends of the intake...going to try to from outside first....

Going to swap out intake rockers...from 1.5 to 1.6 on the intake valve....get the old mp590 cam intake valve opened more and faster
 
71 Dart 360 ran great all weekend....3 bracket races...Ran in the 10.50s all day saturday....10.60 today with warmer weather....went 4 rounds last night...and gave one away...
 
Never got around to swapping out rocker on the intake....you know if it is running good...leave it along for a few races....lol
 
machine shop called today....dam they were open on President's day....360 is done for the 408 with the Trick Flow heads....

this 360 is got maybe one more race in 3 weeks.....
 
picked up the 360 block this afternoon......should get started on cleaning and assembling this weekend......Will start a new post on it once we get it rolling.... 408 with the Trick Flow heads....
 
Dart only ran on Sunday...best of 10.55....nice day..nice weather....

Dart 360 ran great last night....5 passes between 10.73 and 10.71..... Car went 3 rounds and lost a close one in the quarters...

Great air again ...over 5000 ft...
