Drag Truck Part 2 "blackmark redemption"

-
But some weight is necessary and some added weight adds performance.... the headers will be lighter than the factory manifolds, but the two pipes and two turbo mufflers will end up adding a little weight total. Drive shaft loop will add weight, but it's necessary. When I go to manual steering, I'll be ditching that 30 pound-multiple groove crank pulley for a single groove aluminum smaller pulley - most critical weight pound for pound that one can loose is right off the crank.

I'm having more fun unbolting and taking stuff apart than I would be have bolting performance stuff on the truck. Added more to the back of the truck today. If I unbolt something on the truck and put it in the back of the truck, it was a successful day

Little disappointed in the heater/fan box. Kind of a hassle to get it out, and that with the factory speaker only weighed 21 lbs. It's big, and by feel I'd have guessed at least 30 lbs min. But oh well, I'll take all the 20's I can get!

Did you weigh the water/antifreeze in the core and hoses?

I’m not doubting what you took out weighed.

I’m saying a working stereo in there could be done for under 10lbs.

If the track is 5 mins away, no biggie.
If it’s an hour each way....... I’d live with the extra 10lbs and keep the tunes.

It’s not my deal...... I’m just interjecting random observations.
Carry on.....
Cell phone with Pandora and a Beats type bluetooth speaker on the dash can get you by as well and it comes out at the track.

Well, the only thing we are keeping for "comfort" is the comfortable bench seat and keep the racket down in the cab. Other than that, let the good times roll … :D

Look what I've found…..

Weigh in Report:
  • So far, we've unbolted 140 lbs from the truck. :)
  • This should put us at 3620
Still to come:
  • Aluminum front wheels, manual steering, manual brakes, aluminum intake, weight reduction from the doors, lighter back bumper

5 gallon bucket or a milk crate doesn't weigh very much

Removed the front bumper and sway bar yet?
sway bar, yes. Just the bumperettes on the front bumper. It will "look" like a typical farm truck from the outside and looking at the interior
