I was able to take my TC out of my 727 and besides the fact that the 727 is all dirty and the tc is painted black with nice bright red fluid in it. I did find some numbers on the TC scrapped the black off a bit to make out the numbers better.

The Tc looks like it says : TF 1 142240 also another spot looks like it says 388.

I thought stock didnt have any #s on it? Any ideas?

I was going to say it could be and looks like "TCI" on it.
Looks like it is a high torque towing converter with a 1,200 stall speed.

Torque multiplication probably.
TCI states it's a truck converter.

That's all I could find, that it was a truck converter for the 67 and up 727 transmission says 1-1200 flash stall. Don't know if it would be wise to run, it would probably feel like a dog. My 904 stalls around 1800-2k now.

Maybe I'll get lucky at MATS

Call a Converter company, give them all the info they ask for, tell them what you have and go from there.

Yes best to call a converter company. I just found this one on the facebook for 1/2 off and I like deals. There are 2 other in line. Before me though, so I doubt I will get it . You guys rock, thanks!

Half off..is that like $350?? Ebay item #333372015303 is $177 free shipping rebuilt 727 converter 2200-2500 stall.

Yea the guy has it listed for 375

I'll probably end up with a stock stall converter just because of 1. Cheap and 2. Cheap.... unless I find a good deal on an off the shelf unit, or a good deal on a converter company high stall.

Called TCI and that TC is a 1500 stall. I gave him my specs and he advised a 22-2300 stall TC for the street. He said I could go up to the Avenger Steet Series at a 2800 stall but it would be loose and produce a lot of heat on the street, but if I installed a transmission cooler I may be able to get away with the higher stall speed.

A converter is 1 of the best $ u can spend on ur ride. A converter makes or breaks ur combo. Or if ur as cheap as u say stay with the 1 u have and have a under performing ride. Kim

No I'm calling TC companies currently. Looking at past threads and seeing the companies people suggest to call Dynamic, PTC, Ultimate, (maybe hughes). So figured that's the smart thing to do.

I am cheap though, I have to be frugal while having young kids, in school and no job lol. That's why I always look for deals before buying brand new and spending double to triple.

Dynamic - 11in 26-2800 stall 495
Precision- 10in high stall around 25-2800 for 700
Tci - 11in 22-2300 rec for street but could do 2800

So looks like 25-2800 would be the recommended stall converter for me. Thanks for all the input everyone, again I love that no only is everyone so quick to help determine this stuff but you're all usually right as well!

Ask TCI what it would cost to change yours.
