I've been considering using a fiberglass Air Grabber/Ramcharger air cleaner on my 5.9 Magnum build for my '68 Dart. I've searched old threads looking for others that have done the same and found very little. I'm a little surprised, as the Air Grabber/Six Pack/Hemi filter is to me the most iconic features to "Mopar Muscle".

I know I may need to trim the base down to clear the hood, especially since I'll be using an air gap manifold. I would also like to add a/c in the future, but I can't find out if the compressor will interfere. I plan on using a sanden compressor with Vintage Air brackets.

I would like to hear from anyone running this filter, and what issues you ran into.

If it helps... My six pack lid just makes it under '69 Barracuda hood. The base is a shaker, less the adapter and has just a slight bend down (not cut out) on the driver side rear to clear the wiper motor nose which almost touches the filter element. I'd worry about a grabber seal there for sure. I guess a 3 speed wiper motor may provide enough clearance. I've not tried it yet but I have my old '72 440 round element air grabber cleaner if I ever go with a 4 barrel. I've seen some non-fresh air six pack bases cut out to fit the two speed motor. I imagine the single 4 would be similar though.

451 stroker and six pack. Notched for the 2 speed wiper motor. I have no idea if A/C compressor will clear. You might try asking someone at Classic Auto Air. If I had changed to a 3 speed wiper motor I wouldn't have had to notch the drivers rear.

I ran a 440 Coyote Duster air cleaner with 6 pack filter and top on a stock 71 340 Duster. Factory intake and TQ. It fit fine under the flat duster hood. Just a point of reference.

his brother made this

Yep, that's my brother's old car. And yes, when he had it, it was fully functional.

He sold it many, many years ago, wish he never had. That was the car that got me into Mopars, went to more shows with him than I can remember. First high powered car I ever drove. Oh the stories I could tell. Good memories.

It has changed hands and looks a couple of times since he sold it. At one time it had big rally rims. I think the above picture was at Spring Fling, and it looked pretty stock other than than the Airgrabber.
