The year was 1978 a bone skinny young man walked into a used car lot in Springfield Oregon and cast his eyes upon A Sublime 340 swinger he instantly recognized the car as being from his small town about 20 miles away where the car was somewhat of a street racing star. As hemoved closer to the car he noticed the wind wing and steering wheel column we're broken when inquiring about the damage to the salesperson he was informed that someone had tried to steal the car the previous night. The young man was in awe of the car it was just what he was looking for a 4-speed muscle car and the fact that it was a Mopar made it that much better. He asked the salesman how much the dart was and was informed that it was $1,200, knowing that $900 was all that the money that he had saved for the purchase of a muscle car he tried to negotiate with the salesman but the price was firm. Returning back with his grandfather 2 Days Later in hopes his grandfather would loan him the additional money they took the car for a test drive after rowing through the gears down some side streets nearby and along with harsh reprimand from his grandfather he was loaned the money needed to take the car home. This was one of the best days of the young man's life as he viewed over the twin hood scoops and the spoiler in the rear view mirror. The car was all original except for a set of Indy slotted mags and a prism pinstripe and Dodge sticker that adorned the rear of the car. That was 42 years ago three children and two wives in the past the children have long grown and moved away, but I now enjoy a great life and Junction City Oregon with my wife dog and cat and my long old friend my 340 swinger. Happy anniversary old friend!

Cool story.
Sounds like mine.

I got my Cuda in June of 78. My dad consigned for me. I couldn't even drive a four speed. My friend Paul drove it home for me. I still have mine too. I am the second owner.
My brother ended up buying the house next door to
the first owner twelve years later.

thank you all for the kind words! I was somewhat hesitant to make this post in fear that it would come off a little sappy but this is why some of us are so passionate about these cars. That is just a few minutes and just one of stories that could be told. Happy Patty's Day to everyone
