Ok guys, budget rocker question. I know there's other badass brands out there that's are superior but being Canadian and with the doller in the toilet they are out of reach so....
Between PRW Stainless 1.6 rocker or Comp pro magnum 1.5 rocker what would you go with??
408 single 80 mm. Custom Solid flat tappet , eddy heads.

I really know nothing about the PRW set. I have in use the Comp Cams Pro Magnum 1.5’s for a long time now. Zero issues. A good rocker as far as I’m concerned.

I used a set of PRW's on a 418 several yrs. ago with a pretty aggressive solid FT and they worked out well. But if I'm not mistaken they are a chinese company so if the Comp's were in my price range I'd go with them. Whatever you buy take them all apart and clean them and blow them out real good. Don't take anything for granted when it comes with cleanliness

iron rockers from rocker arm specialists in anderson ca
otherwise you need b3 kit ask b3 4 recommendations also RAS
i recommend b&b pushrods and cup adjusters
oil through the pushrods
also recommend yr's method of cup and tip oiling
this an LA?
you have em lifters?

A lot of assumptions there buddy!

I'musing hughes rockers they seem to be working well so far. I'd go with the Comp 1.6 over the prw . I have never used any of those so listen to others here that have sed or are using them .
Good luck

Just be aware that with the PRW’s, there’s a good chance you’ll have to address this to some degree:

most builds on this site do not require roller tip rockers
There commonly used for there accuracy.
What would you suggest to use?
If I’m not going to use an accurate rocker with a roller tip then I would use the Crane ductile arms. (Still available I think.) To state, “Just use the 273 rockers”, is a ridiculous statement because they’re not exactly on the shelf and easy to get.

I guess the Isky's have been gone for years
And erson lost the molds for theirs
Try Rocker Arm Speialists
B3-- what I said
the interference is a symptom of something very wrong

Be prepared to modify with either brand.

I wonder what rocker requires the least correction to what head.

I'm not certain there is one. I would think it all depends on which rocker and which particular head. In other words, heads were cast like say body parts were made. One might measure one way while another another way. Same for rockers, so there's probably an infinite combination.

Yes, exactly that.

I can see that with the heads more so than the rockers but the amount would be small. It would still be a big issue when chasing perfect...

Bought PRW and sent em back, bought speedmasters and sent em back. Both sets had interference as previous post showed. Got the comp pro 1.5s and fit well. Minor shim kit from Mancini corrected the roller path. You will need hold down blocks with them. I got the mopar set from summit. Don't go cheap! Its not worth it. I did use speedmasters on a 440 tho and didn't have the clearance issue for some reason.

Harland Sharp seems to be the best. A friend bought my extra set of Speedmasters and didn't like the way they fit. He bought sharps and they were almost perfect out of the box. He still had to do some shimming to get them right though. I think any rocker will have to be shimmed or clearanced to be made correct.

Listen guys. The clearance issue is a symptom as stated, not the problem. The problem is incorrect stand position for a roller rocker. It doesn't matter which roller rocker you use, or whether it has clearance or not, the fact remains that the stand is not correct and that causes poor geometry.

I haven't clearanced a rocker in over 15 years, because I haven't had to. Once the shaft is relocated, there is always ample room between the rocker and the spring/retainer. Pick your favorite rocker arm, Harland Sharp, Crane, Comp, PRW, Speedmaster, Erson, etc., and they will still need the shafts relocated as long as the top has a roller on it.

For all of the praise heaped on the Harland Sharp rockers, they are actually one of the worst for rocker geometry, no matter how nice they look when bolted to the head. I know, I know, I should be burned at the stake for knocking Harland Sharp rockers, but anyone who knows me, knows I call it like it is with every brand. If it's wrong, it's wrong.

And once again, the pattern being centered is a function of rocker arm length and has nothing to do with proper operational geometry. Change the valve stem tip height, the rocker length needs to change. Put a 1" longer valve in the head, and the rocker will be a lot longer to reach the valve tip. It will also roll right off the top of the valve. But, move the shaft, and it will operate correctly, just like any other valve length or rocker length would.

The same head that had the interference with the PRW rockers had no issue at all with a Crane Gold or a Comp Pro Magnum.
They both had plenty of room.
