Oh yeah, I can do some Spam. Fried with cheese on white bread, cubed and fried with eggs, cubed and fried with fried rice, and, really, just about any other way you can serve it. Nothing not to like about Spam!

Samuel E's modified Spam Casserole
2 C bow-tie noodles
2 T Butter
1/2 an onion chopped
2 T Flour
1 tsp mustard
1/4 tsp pepper
2 C Milk
1 C Colby cheese shredded
1 12oz Spam, cubed
1 C Sweet corn (can use canned corn, peas, green beans, etc) thawed and drained
Buttered Bread Crumbs (crushed garlic bread, crushed gold fish crackers, use your imagination)
Cook noodles & drain. In a large cast iron skillet melt butter & cook onion. Add flour, mustard, and pepper. Blend in milk. Stir & cook until thick & bubbly. Add cheese and stir until melted. Combine all ingredients. Bake at 350 until bubbly. Add bread crumbs for last 5 min. Takes about 30 min.

I STILL haven’t made this....I have spam but with 8 people I might have to add more to the recipe, I was thinking about this fish the other day so this thread and your post is a sign I need to make it soon! I saved it lol...thanks Sam!

I've doubled the recipe for large family gatherings. Just use a large pan.
When I was a kid you only got a small spoon full on Christmas day (grandpa only made a single batch). It was like a delicacy.

here's a simple one for you guys

A hash brown, with some cream cheese and a few slices of spam
Toss it all in the toaster over for 20 minutes and done

I was so inspired re-reading this thread, I had a spam-and-egg sandwich for breakfast!

I keep a can or two of Spam in the pantry for when I fire the smoker up.
No prep work for the Spam. Just remove from the can and put it in the smoker with the ribs or shoulder that is being smoked. Let it go for 2 to 3 hours then remove the Spam from the smoker, slice it thin and snack on it with cheese, crackers and beer while the main course is finishing in the smoker. Good Eats.

Mom would slice Spam, dip it in egg wash and cracker crumbs and fry it. It was delicious.

If you don't like a fried Spam sammich, somethin's wrong with you somehow. Spam is proof nothing is wasted in the pork industry. Hot dogs are the same way and I love them too.

Decades ago Rath Packing was in town. They always said "the only thing we don't use is the squeal"

In 1988 the Air Force assigned me to RAF Greenham Common as a Communications-Electronics technician in the Ground Launched Cruise Missile system. We deployed Comm Relays for 10 days at a time. Just two of us, a K5 Blazer with comm equipment, and an M101 trailer with gear and supplies.

Now, not only were we Air Force, we were electronics, so we had the best of everything, including a Coleman stove. We were given oranges and a couple loads of bread and were allowed to take "reasonable" rations to go with the supplied MRE's.

Well...Spam was the go-to on each deployment!! We ate the crap out of fried Spam sandwiches.

Here's my augumentee (probably frying up some Spam) during a deployment. For anyone who notices, we reversed the trailer and dropped both tailgates, then used the "tarp bag" the camo netting is stored in to provide cover between the truck and trailer. We also put a tarp over the windshield and taped up all lights to prevent reflections. "aggressors" would attempt to find us day and night and we pulled out all the stops to make it hard on them.

ever hear of something called "balkenbrij" ?
its an old Dutch dish
i tell my kids, anything that is left over after they make spam and hotdogs gets ground up and put in the balkebrij
they then add meal to it and let it settle in a burlap sack, hanging from the rafters (a beam is a balk, hence the name)
once it is settled, they slice it and fry it up

im sure ive shared this before (maybe even in this thread)
but i used to work in a factory where every couple of weeks us floor guys would cook lunch together
we had an electric griddle and often made fried spam and cheese sandwiches

it was a sure fire way to get any veterans we had in the building into the lunchroom...the aroma of sizzling spam drew them in like a moth to light
