Are you quarantined or still working ?

Thanks for the kind words. Thankfully I dont deal with public, just coworkers and they have implemented plans to communicate by phone and maintain 10' of distance. I'm isolated in the control room. Extreme measures for extreme times.
By all means when you come up to visit let me know, can take you out fishing, were surrounded by lakes here.
Be safe and healthy!
Bless you and keep up the good work. We DESPARATELY need our utilities to stay on. My daughter lives in Newmarket (just north of Toronto), and I was going to look you up when we came up in May. Who knows when that will happen now.

Yes, thanks for the job you do. We need folks like you to do what you do in times of trouble. My wife works for the city and my sister asked me if she was going to be off work. I said "who is going to pay the bills and the salaries" ?
Just because most stay home from work it doesn't mean all the services stop.

Working. I pretty much have just a skeleton crew now. Directed all non-essential workers with the ability to work from home to do so. Roles like Drivers, Ops and Call Center are here. Proud of them all. Staying positive, keeping it light and TCB.

Thanks Mike, theres a LOT more people out there doing important jobs. Front line medical staff, water distribution crews, electrical linemen.
Main reason I got into water(selfishly I guess) is everything on the planet needs clean water. Recession proof thankfully.

I'm retired poor but the wife is 64 1/2, she is a real estate agent that works out of our rural home. Feast or famine usually the later. Her age is important as she has bad caterracs (spelling!) and I do all the driving. She will get surgery in Aug. when she hits 65, otherwise it is not affordable. We only go anywhere that is absolute necessary now. We are 45 minutes North of N edge of Houston, but everyone here works in the city. We had to go look at couple rural properties yesterday, and I noticed a lot of guys at home in the yard playing with smack children. Not many people out and about, some fast women drivers trying to get home seemed like. We did not have to even get out of the pickup, which is OK with me! Wife is trying to do internet work this AM and it is very very slow.
I have a 25 year old granddaughter that is a nurse and a dgauhter-in-law likewise. I worry for them.

Not much going on here in upper center of North Dakota schools are closed but life seems to be the same for me I'm mostly retired and work in a small body shop just the owner and me there so not exposed to many people.
Local store is still stocked with food even toilet paper so living in the middle of nothing is a good thing right now.

I only work one day a week, so I am still going in.
Sorry for everyone affected by the virus.
Thank you to everyone here keeping our world going!

Working from home as an environmental scientist. My woman is an ER nurse/nursing educator working her *** off at a local hospital.

Working -I am the aviation mechanic for our local PD so considered essential. Apparently there are a lot of "essential" jobs out there because the drive in was pretty busy considering everything going on here in CA.

Be Safe Everyone

^^ true dat....CA Freeway was friday light I'd call it but nothing like a saturday or holiday. Now the surface streets are pretty quiet by my house but that's about right when local high school is out anyway. Little Ceasars is still open close by...nice to web in an order and go and pick up out of pizza portal (like an amazon locker, put in code and a slot opens with your pizzas) in and out in about 15 seconds. Id call that essential work! Dominos is 50% off when you order online and have it delivered.

  • My daughter is done working today - furlough we'll say. She works at a Hotel chain.
  • We've reduced our work force temporarily. I'm still working.

“Over the past week, the network has been operating with a skeleton staff at its 30 Rock headquarters in Midtown Manhattan. Several Today show personalities, including Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, and Craig Melvin, continue to work from homeafter one of the show’s staffers tested positive.”

There's many NBC employees that have confirmed to be CV positive . That’s been on the news for over a week.

Although I work in the same building as other people that have tested positive for the CV, I don’t technically work for NBC as I’m employed by a subcontractor.

So we are not being subjected to quarantine rules and regulations, as an electrician I’m considered essential work force....

So everyday I’m touching door handles, elevator buttons, being exposed to known CV infected areas.

RIP Larry.

6 week layoff.
I am a fabricator / welder for a NASCAR team.
All the teams have shut down. The big ones who usually have 600 employees working Gibbs -Hendrick- Penske-Roush etc have a very small skeleton crew.
Was told l MAY go back 2 weeks early to get. Martinsville car ready but no guarantees.

Seems like the way things might end up being from now on.

I work for a Municipal Utility, just this week the city closed all facilities to the public, this morning they are reducing our hours to half (paid on call).
It is a small city and I live 1.2 miles from work.

I work as a meat cutter in a local supermarket. Already put in over 50 hrs even though I’m supposed to be retired. I’m sick of the public; put a limit on pkg’s of ground meats and chicken and got called all kind of names. Actually had 1 ***** tell me where to go. She had almost 1/2 her shopping cart full of pkg’s of chicken legs and thighs...yea sale item. Just got her link card replenished.
This morning had 3 checkers call in sick so the lines went to the back wall. Guess what...most shopping carts had only 4 or 5 items. Who in their right mind stands in lines for 45 minutes just to buy 1 pkg of ground meat, chicken, bacon or whatever. I even had some try to get refunds for stuff they bought 2 or 3 weeks ago cause it’s now on sale this week. I made all kinds of ground meats ( Chuck, round, sirloin and pork ) in 4 lb sizes cause there is a 1 limit. So the old bag is pissed cause I won’t make 1/2 lb pkgs for her.
So...ya say ya want some customer service .....and some civility from the butcher....UP YOURS.
Rant over. Just made me a vodka seven up and am going to read what’s new on FABO.
Tomorrow I’m going to do it all over again but don’t “push me lady”. Keep smiling.
While you all are on quarantine with nothing to read; read this Pulitzer Prize winning book by Upton Sinclair...The Jungle. It’s a classic.

Years ago my mother worked in the meat dept of a small family owned supermarket.
Just her and the butcher.
Mario was his name. Came over from Italy. That man knew how to do his job!
We weren't rich by any means. Probably considered lower middle class back then.
But BOY ! Did we eat good! Steak 2 or 3 nites a week. The best hamburger and Italian sausage you could ask for. I'm sure Mario probably made stuff a little "extra" for us. Lol
Good times , the '70s.

Just mandated the "Shelter in Place" thing here in IL. The company is considered an "essential" business, so we will keep on keeping on. Though at a greatly reduced level of sales/shipments. Good thing is traffic during my morning and evening commutes will be non-existent. This goes on long enough and it'll be warm enough to drive the Duster to work every frigging day LOL.

Take car e folks,
Pat

Been a while since I read that book
Too bad the schools are closed down, or I might have had time to read it again

I use to drive semi dropping off organic food from Montana, North Dakota and Minnesota. I had over 500 customers and would drop off at there door if the semi and 53' trailer would fit down there street. Had customers buying lots of food for the up coming apocalypse and had to deal with my cell phone ringing off the hook as I was trying to drive and schedule my route.
Had to deal with people that was strictly organic and me eating a tweenkey and drinking a cup of coffee in the morning trying to unload grocery's as the people would curse me and say God will condemn you for eating trash for food because the body is from god and needs to be holy.
I here ya buddy been there....

yes to both. we were supposed to work 4 days a week with reduced staff. with today's announcement there will only be two of us working once a week.
