Are you quarantined or still working ?

Self-employed. Our work is mostly out of state. Have one project at a dock in KY..... no one will be there this early in the season, so not much worry when we get there. But we have to travel together as a crew of 3 and stay in motels. We are up in the air on whether to suspend our 1-2 jobs on the books, or do them before the virus cranks up in our area. Nobody to tell us what to do; it's all on our judgement.

My 36 year old son has something and is at home; we hope it is a cold. Our trusty sub decided to go to his Mexican vacation and got back 2 days ago... of course he flew. The best info today as of the disease process is that you can be very infectious 1-3 days before feeling symptoms, with all cases, mild or severe. So we have to stay put and give ourselves around 10 days of isolation before we travel together. So we won't go anywhere next week for sure. I'm 66 and my wife is 72 so they may go without me to KY, after a couple of weeks isolation.

I keep up to speed on where things are good and bad. NY as of this moment's post has 44% of the US known cases. No way anyone should go there. Their reported cases are probably partly exploding right now due to the testing really getting into full swing, but the response there has been behind the curve and NYC is in a serious situation.

Semi-retired here and now self-employed, working 2-3 days a week. I took two weeks off to let some of the initial steam gas off, I'll be back at it on the 30th taking the normally prescribed precautions.

I work as a meat cutter in a local supermarket. Already put in over 50 hrs even though I’m supposed to be retired. I’m sick of the public; put a limit on pkg’s of ground meats and chicken and got called all kind of names. Actually had 1 ***** tell me where to go. She had almost 1/2 her shopping cart full of pkg’s of chicken legs and thighs...yea sale item. Just got her link card replenished.
This morning had 3 checkers call in sick so the lines went to the back wall. Guess what...most shopping carts had only 4 or 5 items. Who in their right mind stands in lines for 45 minutes just to buy 1 pkg of ground meat, chicken, bacon or whatever. I even had some try to get refunds for stuff they bought 2 or 3 weeks ago cause it’s now on sale this week. I made all kinds of ground meats ( Chuck, round, sirloin and pork ) in 4 lb sizes cause there is a 1 limit. So the old bag is pissed cause I won’t make 1/2 lb pkgs for her.
So...ya say ya want some customer service .....and some civility from the butcher....UP YOURS.
Rant over. Just made me a vodka seven up and am going to read what’s new on FABO.
Tomorrow I’m going to do it all over again but don’t “push me lady”. Keep smiling.
While you all are on quarantine with nothing to read; read this Pulitzer Prize winning book by Upton Sinclair...The Jungle. It’s a classic.

Keep your head up, Its local panic around here.

I am and engineer, and lucky I can do 90% of my work from home, but the lack of social intervention of my co-workers make the day long and boring.
Working from home is worse than the most screwed up day at work.
I hope this is over soon.

Wife works in the bank. Its the snowbirds ignoring the self isolation order is what is going to get her sick. I closed shop until things start returning to normal. Im not taking any chances with my customers, lots of them are up in age.

In logistics (LTL trucking) make deliveries /pickups to big (national corp) and small businesses, mostly to towns of 5k-8k and out on the country. Big are enacting policies of no entrance to building, or are cordoned off at entrance, workers in contact keeping distance, wearing gloves, no use of bathroom facilities, port-a-potties by entrance, other locations you are out of luck, some want signatures on legal documents (which we don’t sign) other smaller businesses it’s no different than any other day. Much talk, many are still doubters, some are worried, others taking off work before the company has made decisions to close down. Changes day by day. Drivers treated sympathetically down to being a leper. For some reason I keep hearing Hank Jr singing “A Country Boy Can Survive”... Waiting on the state to just shut the ***** down....

I work sales at a Ford lot, and it's been slow for awhile now, but this is really killing us now. I have been on vacation this week, and received a text today saying to come in late on Monday. So, looks like reduced hours at the least for now, but expecting shutting down or, a shelter in place order soon. I have enough parts for my car to keep me busy if we shut down. My wife and daughter on the other hand will be working though. My daughter works for a grocery store, and my wife works in child care. Surprisingly, they want her facility open to take care of kids of essential personal if they need it.

A lot of the places that I go to pick up or deliver have implemented policies requiring a form be filled out with questions whether I been to China in the last 2 weeks, or anyone in my house has, whether I or anyone has any symptoms, etc. Cripes it's still cold here and when I'm outside for 10 to 15 minutes I may have a bit of a runny nose, people still get colds, don't mean it's the Coronavirus. We are no longer having customers sign our tablets, a few places require us to remain in the cab.

My wife has been on disability for over a year now, probably will not return to work anytime soon, if ever.

I'm in blacktop construction. We've been laid off since thanksgiving. Usually I work a couple hours a week in the shop helping fix the machinery and doing small work orders for potholes and things the snowplows hit throughout winter. Usually this time of year we are gearing up to get started again. We were supposed to start back the 30th with the asphalt plants opening back up but PA governor hit the brakes and we didn't make the "life sustaining" list so not sure when we will be back. Wife works in the administrative portion of the local hospital which she is now working from home. Glad she is still able to work.

Self employed in central Pa. I have been doing plumbing service for 35+ years and started on my own when I got laid off in 2008. Work is at a halt since last Thursday. No calls, nothing scheduled, 4 grandkids, and then they go and shut down the beer dist. Christ! I can last a little while but it's probably only gonna get worse before it gets better. A friend warned me about the beer dist closing and I stocked up on that but my most concerning issue is right before this halt on life, I just finished my 68 build and over 27k just in parts. All labor was on me. So then I score on a beautiful. # matching challenger rt 340 4 sp car and ripped the motor right out and to the machine shop as it sat since 89. 6 weeks now and no word from them. I'm going there Monday but I am gonna have to put this resto on hold soon. Money don't grow on trees and with renting 2 garages, mortgage, taxes due, etc... It's getting nerve racking. I have been steady right thru the last recession and now a complete halt! Never thought I'd go under over a damn virus! I can go on calls but when there is no more then what? Grow a garden and go hunting I guess. Good time to grab an a body out of the garage and do some body work. All the time in the world for that! Good luck to all and stay healthy!

Work in a golf resort fancy steak house. Governor shut down restaurants effective last Wednesday. I live in a rented place by myself on an island with a gate, ideal for this, I feel very fortunate. Plenty of food and liquor here, it dawned on me I can 100% isolate myself, and after two weeks, at least I'll know I am not going to come down with a nasty illness.

Still working. I work in the utility pole business. I'm not sure if we will be deemed an essential industry or not. My wife teaches for Head Start. They are off for 6 weeks, paid.

I am a self employed farm. Still working, animals have to be fed obviously. I don't come in contacted with many people unless I have to get parts or feed.

The lady at the feed store this AM gave me her cell number in case they are **** down, so she an open up for me.

The county has 1 traffic light ( really just for when the HS lets out). Up as I can into town at the stop light. I was almost run over by two women that HAD to get to the little grocery quick!! People are getting just a little nuts even out here. Hate to think how bad it is in the cities where there is the virus!

I'm still working, but pretty much working from home. I work for a power company, and work by myself anyway. I go behind our contractors that build power lines for us, and inspect the jobs that they have already worked to make sure they are done to spec and billed properly. My work for the week comes in on Monday morning, and I can get it all for the week and disappear. Nobody is at the jobsites I go to since the work is done, so I am pretty much on my own. I did have to remind one customer that stopped to ask a question to keep their distance, but other than that I've cruised right along. We are at our tin condo at the beach this weekend, and my wife had to lay the law down to some of our friends here who don't get it. They wanted us to come to a cook out, and she politely declined, saying we just wanted to keep to ourselves. Her friend kept pushing, and my wife had to tell her we had no interest in being in a group of people right now who are acting like it's business as usual! @ragtopfury …..yep, it's pretty deserted here right now!

Still working, equipment operator at a landfill, we are deemed necessary.
I envy the guys that pick the trash up. Had a larger than normal trash deposit and thought taking it to the incinerator would be cheaper and save $. Way wrong! To just move all those bags 8-12+ every week was well worth what the company charged. Its something most wouldn't even consider or think about!

we hung out with some friends last night, 4 families, all with 2-5 kids
(we did leave grandma home for this one)
if we're gonna go down, at least we'll go down with the people we love

since first reply, hours have changed. very minimal staff in office and 2 people in warehouse. not scheduled till Thursday the 26th. wife has her "driving papers" allowing her to get to work. she is still going full time but the work at home is there just in case.
read about the truckers; we have a sign-in sheet for inbound but it's business as usual. most are regulars so bathroom and microwave in breakroom are available.
