Are you quarantined or still working ?

I am retired but work p/t as route driver delivering organic groceries to homes & offices.
Due to cv 19 worries Biz has exploded in last 2wks. Went from 30 stops a day and 25 to 30 hrs a week to 70 stops a day and 50 hrs a week. So long P/T. Will ride out heavy route to get the extra $$$ till we get shut down which is very possible.

It’s insanely insane in NYC.....

So far, same ole same ole. This week coming up will be changing so we’re gonna find out

I'm in Washington, we're working as of now but a lot of people are either working from home or just flat staying home. Hearing essential personnel are being spooled up for a shelter in place, though.

Working the Bay Area as my business is considered “essential”. That’s auto repair. But we’re slow.

I work as a meat cutter in a local supermarket. Already put in over 50 hrs even though I’m supposed to be retired. I’m sick of the public; put a limit on pkg’s of ground meats and chicken and got called all kind of names. Actually had 1 ***** tell me where to go. She had almost 1/2 her shopping cart full of pkg’s of chicken legs and thighs...yea sale item. Just got her link card replenished.
This morning had 3 checkers call in sick so the lines went to the back wall. Guess what...most shopping carts had only 4 or 5 items. Who in their right mind stands in lines for 45 minutes just to buy 1 pkg of ground meat, chicken, bacon or whatever. I even had some try to get refunds for stuff they bought 2 or 3 weeks ago cause it’s now on sale this week. I made all kinds of ground meats ( Chuck, round, sirloin and pork ) in 4 lb sizes cause there is a 1 limit. So the old bag is pissed cause I won’t make 1/2 lb pkgs for her.
So...ya say ya want some customer service .....and some civility from the butcher....UP YOURS.
Rant over. Just made me a vodka seven up and am going to read what’s new on FABO.
Tomorrow I’m going to do it all over again but don’t “push me lady”. Keep smiling.
While you all are on quarantine with nothing to read; read this Pulitzer Prize winning book by Upton Sinclair...The Jungle. It’s a classic.

Same here. Retired, and got a call, please can you help. I've been working since Tuesday, and some long hours. These people are nuts. Meat manager that took my place, is on his third week without a day off. Sales are targeted to be triple of normal this week. Those guys are working their butts off, only to be bitched at for not having everything. yeah, I could rant on for awhile.

New week. New day. Take em as they come. Its like a roller coaster. Get on the ride and enjoy. That's all your gonna get.

I am thankful for anyone providing a service during anytime of year or crisis.
I am not the one bitching, I'm the guy still getting only what we need for a week or two.

If you have to decide what is right or just be self your $$. Maybe in the middle of a major resto, you should have it in your heart to help a fellow human out. Don't like the beggars and signers but they have there own issues. I just feel bad for people that don't have a reason to keep going. Buy a mopar and it gives you a reason to breathe. Specially when they are running rich. Face full of octane. Lol. If i had $$$ i would distribute it accordingly. Cant give it to the foolish but maybe help em. . 1 step at a time.

I'm still working. I maintain a fleet of tow trucks and they are still considered an essential service. Business has definitely gotten a lot slower, but there are still accidents and break downs occurring daily.

Got laid off in Feb, nothing to do with this nightmare, contractor lost a big contract. I could have went to another outfit, but did a bunch of side work, now that's slowing. Bad timing on my part.

We were informed we are out, working from home, for a minimum of 2 weeks.

Working from home starting last Monday until April 3rd as of now, but that will probably get pushed out.

I'm in blacktop construction. We've been laid off since thanksgiving. Usually I work a couple hours a week in the shop helping fix the machinery and doing small work orders for potholes and things the snowplows hit throughout winter. Usually this time of year we are gearing up to get started again. We were supposed to start back the 30th with the asphalt plants opening back up but PA governor hit the brakes and we didn't make the "life sustaining" list so not sure when we will be back. Wife works in the administrative portion of the local hospital which she is now working from home. Glad she is still able to work.
See, to me, your work seems more crucial than mine.
Roads need to be maintained. Bridges and overpasses need to be finished.

You were working at O'Rielley Auto parts awhile back, right? I thought you retired after that.

I did. I accidentally fell into a job at a local high end restoration shop doing all of their mechanical work. It's fun. I hurt like hell, but it's fun.

Wow...what a lucky break !
I have thought about how I would like to do that after I retire from Construction.
I've thought of how I'd like to "apprentice/intern" at a few shops to improve my skills.
Not sure if that is even something any shop would offer but it is an interesting prospect.

I watch the RFD channel every AM. Price of beef and cattle futures have fell bad as the Wall St stuff. Huge demand for meat right now as we all know, BUT is also has to be processed and delivered!! I wonder what is the US supply of frozen meat the govn't holds?
Stepson was supposed to go catch us a bunch of Crappie but 2 days no minnows, then finally some came in and then he and neighbor go and still have not seen ours yet!! He is an Ag teacher and starting Mon doing it all with live feed internet. He has the boat!!

Might go litter the desert with .359 projectiles today.

On call for remote IT support otherwise.
