Are you quarantined or still working ?

I work as a meat cutter in a local supermarket. Already put in over 50 hrs even though I’m supposed to be retired. I’m sick of the public; put a limit on pkg’s of ground meats and chicken and got called all kind of names. Actually had 1 ***** tell me where to go. She had almost 1/2 her shopping cart full of pkg’s of chicken legs and thighs...yea sale item. Just got her link card replenished.
This morning had 3 checkers call in sick so the lines went to the back wall. Guess what...most shopping carts had only 4 or 5 items. Who in their right mind stands in lines for 45 minutes just to buy 1 pkg of ground meat, chicken, bacon or whatever. I even had some try to get refunds for stuff they bought 2 or 3 weeks ago cause it’s now on sale this week. I made all kinds of ground meats ( Chuck, round, sirloin and pork ) in 4 lb sizes cause there is a 1 limit. So the old bag is pissed cause I won’t make 1/2 lb pkgs for her.
So...ya say ya want some customer service .....and some civility from the butcher....UP YOURS.
Rant over. Just made me a vodka seven up and am going to read what’s new on FABO.
Tomorrow I’m going to do it all over again but don’t “push me lady”. Keep smiling.
While you all are on quarantine with nothing to read; read this Pulitzer Prize winning book by Upton Sinclair...The Jungle. It’s a classic.
.
Same here. Retired, and got a call, please can you help. I've been working since Tuesday, and some long hours. These people are nuts. Meat manager that took my place, is on his third week without a day off. Sales are targeted to be triple of normal this week. Those guys are working their butts off, only to be bitched at for not having everything. yeah, I could rant on for awhile.

Huge demand for meat right now as we all know, BUT is also has to be processed and delivered!! I wonder what is the US supply of frozen meat the govn't holds?
Just talked to my son who is a meat cutter for a family business in western PA. Said this is usually a slow time for them, and they can't keep anything out front. In addition to whatever else they buy, EVERYBODY that walks through the door usually wants at least a 10lb pack of burger. At this point they are out of bacon till the next batch is done curing/smoking, whatever they do to it...ALL the orders that were in the freezer(some for as much as 3 months) have been picked up. 70 sides of beef on order...He didn't work this weekend, but is doing 10+hrs per day. Said the bottleneck right now is not enough people to work the kill floor. Planning to bring back some guys this week that left for one reason or another and are currently out of work.

We usually sell 10 LB tubes of ground beef, plus use them to make our package grind. Right now, none are available, so the only way to make grind is to cut, and grind primals, which is way more expensive. Getting complaints about the price, but can't be helped. It's either that way, or no ground beef at all.

Yep, they are grinding some better stuff than normal. Said yesterday was the first any ground beef actually stayed in the case for any time. Usually on orders or someone standing there waiting to grab it. My son also does all the sausage. Has actually increased sales since he modified the grind/recipes. So he gets pulled off of cutting to do that. He normally only works long hours during fair and deer season. This time of year is usually like a working vacation. LOL ... not this year.

Ohio was ordered to stay at home unless absolutely necessary. Non essential business is supposed to close but so far I don’t know of anyone that is closing. If you are out the police CAN stop you and CAN site you.

I don't know how you guys working mechanics can handle standing on your head getting into tight spots. If it was me I'd be sick for a week.

On top of all of my medical maladies, I don't see how I do it either. I have balance, coordination and concentration issues from an explosion I was in years ago. That's what did me in today. All the up and down up and down guiding the engine and trans in. It's a 67 Vette so it's really tight in the transmission tunnel. I at least got it sittin in the car though.

I'm a retired Businessman. Had a small chain of Auto Parts Stores. Sold em all to Carquest in late 2000. However, I did not sell them the buildings. They are still renting from me 20 yrs later. Built a large shop at my house the year I was selling, cause I damn sure wasn't gonna go sit on a couch. Now I just piddle, and work on my own Mopars (4). And I do a few small repairs for mostly people from my Church, so they don't get taken advantage of by the local shops. So, even before all this quarantine stuff, I was pretty much here alone most of the time. So no great changes for me. Still have people bringing me stuff to rerpair, but I stay at arms length, and clean the hand surfaces on the cars before I get in them....Ha...I even started using the drive through window, at the Beer store.....

I'm in great shape for a 63 year old but I have had to pull a few engines on newer cars and it really cramped me up for a few days so no more doing that I'll stick to the easy ones. lol

Good Idea Mitch best to keep clear of all the crap going around.

Self imposed now. only way this is going to go away is if most hunker down and just suck it up! I stocked up on beer!

You got the love for cars and God bless. Waiting on the crap weather to break. Im digging en em till i can't go anymore.

I’m a tech at a Chrysler dealership. Yesterday we got put on a 3 day work week. Shop split into 2 teams so 3 days each team. Trying to keep number of people in the shop low so they don’t get shut down. We’re flat-rate so it sucks right now. Business he been slow and now you have to try to get your hours in 3 days. At least we are still working though. I’m in the Atl Ga area

I have had a couple Corvettes. I lack patience. I pray every nite for strength and patience.
I think I heard God wisper, There ain't enough patience in this world for me to work another Corvette.
I call it Corvette cause IF I call it Vette it pisses off that crowd! Guess it reminds them of the SheVette!??? lol

Still working. I am a parts person for a local Chrysler dealer. The dealership considers us an essential business. We typically do between 1.5-2 million in parts sales a month and have an estimated inventory of around 4 million dollars in parts. It has slowed way down, but we are still getting walk in traffic and wholesale phone calls.
