Is anyone sick or know anyone

-
We don't have it and we know of no one who does.

Have an extended family member that wasn't feeling well, fever, etc., she went to the county hospital and tested negative and was sent home to isolate, two days later she was feeling worse, went to the neighboring county hospital and tested positive for Covid 19, was sent home again, she manages a cafeteria!
Last Friday I drove around the subdivision, at three particular houses they were partying like it was the 4th of July, cars all in the yard and out in the street, multiple grills going, music blaring, people standing around smoking and joking, I guess it will take a few deaths of some loved ones to jerk them into reality.

Crazy Georgians!! Just saw on the news where a bunch of kids closed down the 17th Street Bridge in Atlanta in the middle of the night so they could do donuts on the bridge!!

Our rural county ( 1 traffic light and 2 small grocery stores) and 2 small towns is about 45 minutes N of N edge of Houston. Houston now has several hundred cases, but this AM a local woman posted in FB she has it. She listed all the places in the county she has been in the last 10 days, she was busy and traveling the 30 miles up and down the county!!!! She's been everywhere!! It did not ay IF she has children. They did close the schools just last Mon.

Just sick and tired of bs, like most people. Lol

A cold was going around over here . Uncle had it...hes about 68, lost his voice from it.
It went around and sure enough... everyone lost their voice near the end of this cold ,with half of them having some minor form of chest discomfort...like waking up at nite and hurting to breathe deep. Normal breaths ,fine...but deep, no bueno. The consensus was it's still just a cold, no fever, some sore throat, some not, none with aches of any kind. Ages 68-2yrs old. Wide age span.
I'm no doctor, but I have had colds like this and worse, more than a few times. I have had what I thought was pneumonia where it hurts really bad to breathe in, always at nite..then again, if that was true... I would guess I had it 8 times at least in my life.
I have no breathing issues, never have.
... I call that a severe chest cold though. But I'm no doc.
Paranoia is high right now... everyone think the next person might have it, its beyond sci fi....but remember thaat there are the regular colds and flus still put there, predominately. Then remember there are factors that can influence the characteristics of the cold you get...like the kind of furnace, what the temp is.... and then again, what the level of humidity in your home.
Too cold... it happens.
Too dry, it happens in milder form and is relieved easier.
People ask why do they feel worse at nite when ill.... they say its because cortisol levels drop when the body isn't physically active.

Who has had the flu this year?
That's really what I'm more worried about.

I've been helping out at the store I retired from people. People are just stupid. I do my best to keep my distance from people, but they don't return the courtesy.

Law is 6 ft here, right.
I go to the store yesterday...and when I get the check out...I pass a blue tape line...'didnt notice it at first'
... then i stop and see a sign about waist high that says..." please stand behind the blue tape till the previous customer had paid"...
Once I see that I step back around behind my cart, behind the Blue Line, while my carts is just past the blue line. Well...this old black 'significance realized at the end' ..marine guy in front of me checking out...with about a hundred Keys whistles and three lanyards hanging off his neck starts to go..."uh sir imma need you to get behind the line"
I see I'm behind it already, and so I say 'yeah I just noticed that, thanks.'
He then says.."uh seriously, I need you behind the line, I got kids" ..
now..he is probably 56 yrs old, like his kids are adults...though they could be losers and live with him, I guess.. idgaf, just dont bark at me when I'm not doing any harm..
At that point I told him he could 'finish up and not worry about my ***' ..that's already standing behind the line and dont worry cart want infect him from the10ft away it sat in front of me.
At that point...the checker told him that i was fine, the recommendation is 6ft and that he needed to pay and keep the line moving.. he jumbles his **** into bags taking forever and finally leaves while babbling low volume his concerns.

Only thing I could think was...hes either a paranoid weirdo asshole ...or using this health rec as a tool of racial discrimination.

It was a weird scene all together, felt like launching my cart of **** right into'em and arm sweeping all his **** off the conveyor belt ontop of him.

The other day, yesterday in fact, I saw this group of women all closely gathered on the corner talking and laughing and I thought to myself...' what a bunch of dip shitz'.. You're supposed to stay in and or at least keep your distance whem outside and not carry on like nothing's happening. I again thought to myself... 'where all the homeless people at...?... wish one would go over there I just take a piss down that lezbo lookin ones back'. Nothing worse than a 'law breaking abomination' potentially spreading viruses...

Was at a store today. Went to check out, and kept my distance from the person checking out in front of me. The cashier said I need you to step back, and keep a distance from those in front of you. I'm thinking she's talking to me, even though I have stood back. I turn around, and there are two people damn near on top of me. I thanked her.

Here in Ohio the law will get on them for that now.

Nah, they won't bother you. At least the cops I know won't. The constitution still applies even in this B/S. Dic-Tator Mike ain't about to declare Martial Law anytime soon. He likes this gig.
I think even they are starting to question this nonsense.
The cure is worse than the disease. Need to just let it blow over and be done with it.

Sister works at Stanford U, had 1 foreign student test positive, he just came back from S. Korea! No F'n ****.....mom knows a friend who knows some one afflicted. No one else. Went to beach yesterday and stayed 100 feet from anyone (big beach, kinda cold so it was not crowded)..well today, LA governor shut LA beaches down (im in neighboring Orange County) as weekend Venice boardwalk looked like Coney Island in August. Our church (www.christcm.com) streams Sunday service at 10:20 and a daily 9 am PST devotion. Shows collage of selfies of members watching in their homes. I think that part is going very well minus a few streaming lock ups. Can see this service gaining traction.

I live in Oregon the governor just shut down the whole state with a shelter at home order only essential businesses can remain open. I do not know anyone personally with the virus but I can feel it coming sort of like a storm on the Horizon.

How many businesses actually fallowed that? Here in Ohio not much has changed.

It's pretty serious everyone seems to be complying for the most part it's a Class A misdemeanor to violate it and we're told the police will be enforcing. I work for the City of Eugene and i will be working one day a week basically emergency on-call

All I know is I've lost at least $32K on just one investment account.
I haven't even looked at the others.
My niece is about to lose her business, and all she gets is "there may be loans to help small business out." My niece doesn't need a loan, she needs to be able to reopen her cafe. Let her do that and she won't need to owe the "F"ing government anything except taxes.
Trump said what I've been saying the past week, the cure is worse than the disease.

Bullshit. If we don’t maintain vigilance to keep this thing from spreading, the disease will be far worse than the containment.

We have no immunity, no vaccine and no proven treatment. We have to slow this down or we will all pay a severe price.

I get that it is causing financial ruin for some, but death is not a reasonable alternative. We are being forced to choose between the lesser of two shitty alternatives. Yes, it sucks. But it’s how it is.

This isn’t a made-up thing. It is as real as it gets and as serious as a heart attack. We either hold it back or millions will die.

Is saving a business more imortant than that?

Someone hijacked a 53 foot trailer full of TP, in N.C. no BS.

Hate to be political, the Dems are holding things up and are (IMHO) cutting their own throats as far as the next election, which is all they worry about.

I understand you work in the medical field, you have a bias toward the info you have.
But you need to look past that.
My niece, and the possibility of her losing something she worked hard for, does hit close to my home, but it's just a symptom of a larger problem.
So lets put this into another perspective.
You go to church? If so, then you know Easter is coming up. If your wife is anything like mine, a new Easter outfit with shoes and accessories would have been bought. My wife would have made sure the kids (grand kids in my case) were in new outfits as well. Me, she'd bought a tie and a shirt and insisted that my suit, at the very least, went to the dry cleaners.
Then she'd make sure all the kids (adults included) would have an Easter basket as well.
My wife's idea of an Easter basket is a sight to see.
My wife is Catholic (I'm not, but I'm tolerated) so that means every Friday, we attend a fish fry, somewhere.
Between Easter and Mothers day, my wife generally decides that it's time to get the flowers bought and the yard in shape.
While I'm not a huge fan, I do root for my school during March Madness. They've been known to pull off an upset or two over the years. I don't drink, but I'm not above going to a wing joint and hanging out with my friends and watching a couple of games.
My grand daughter lives with me, she's 14 and has been hinting around that she wants new summer clothes.
I told myself that this year, no trips out of the U.S. for the University, my wife and I have a significant anniversary this year. We were planning a trip together.
That would put us thru at least Mothers Day.
Lets look at just that damage.
The clothes my wife would have bought for Easter, won't be bought. The retailers didn't count on that, they ordered the product to have on hand to sell. They either paid or owe a manufacturer for that product.
My blue suit is still in its garment bag, it won't see the dry cleaner for some time now.
The Easter baskets are probably not going to be as nice this year. She's bought some candy, but honestly, she's bad about buying candy, eating it and then replacing it for the baskets. Yeah, my wife has a sweet tooth. But not this year, no extras are getting bought.
Looks like we aren't going to anymore fish fry's now. The different places we go to have bought product to sell. It won't get sold now. They also paid or owe a distributor or a merchant, who did the same.
Looks like we won't be doing much to the yard either now. I know for a fact our finances have taken at least a $32K hit, and the DJ lost another 700 points today.
I wanted to replace my riding mower with a zero turn. Not happening this year, maybe next if we recover. But, how many mowers were built with the anticipation of being sold? Prior to this virus, I would have guessed quite a few with the economy we've been having.
The flowers my wife generally drops small fortune on, I'm sure that'll be scaled back.
March Madness, well that's shot to hell. I don't have the impact that others have, but how much beer and food is sold during this? 2019 estimates were $13.3 Billion in the service industry alone. How much money is gambled? $8.5 Billion on the NCAA Tournament alone. Those are the NCAA's figures. Those figures do not include the income to the school or programs involved. That does not include advertising revenue or trademark merchandising.
My grand daughter, she'll get new clothes, but mostly because she's out growing what she has at an unreal rate. But for the same reason I'm not getting a zero turn mower, she won't shopping at American Eagle, Pink or the other high end stores she seems to come to like.
She won't go naked, but she'll have a tough time understanding.
The trip the wife wanted to take, well that's completely out the window now. That trip involved a cruise ship and beach time.
Now, I don't want to assign a dollar figure to the things that just my family aren't going to do this year, but give it some thought.

Thought about it?

Now, take that figure and multiply that by millions.

That's just a middle class family of three. Imagine what a larger, or more wealthy family would have done.

This country is bleeding BILLIONS upon BILLIONS of dollars each day over this.
We are a capitalist society, we're not programed for socialism or socialist policy. The country isn't either, obviously.

Will people die? Oh yeah.
But, how many people were going to die from heart attacks? By your own admission, they're pretty serious. How many are going to not seek out medical attention due to the virus scare and die from that?
How many are going to die from cancer? From lung disease? From liver disease? From HIV/AIDS? From other infectious disease? From the Flu?
What is an acceptable number of dead from suicide after being isolated?
These numbers will not be reported because there is no sensationalism or ratings in that.
In fact, the Dept of Labor has asked the individual states to NOT release unemployment figures from all of this.
Why?
That information would have an even more severe impact on the economy.
Is this virus to be taken seriously?
Yes, yes it absolutely should.
But so should the thought of starving, and the millions who would die from that.

^^ At what age or in what condition, should a person just be "written off"??
That's a wonderful question.
There was a Facebook post from one of my friends the other day. She was upset that her kidney transplant that had been scheduled, planed and looked forward to for months, was postponed.
She was told it was an elective surgery. I've known this girl since high school. I knew that she's dealt with kidney disease for some time. She's devastated.
She was written off.
I was supposed to have my pacemaker replaced. I was told in December it needs to be done by May. It was supposed to have gone down a week ago today. It was postponed as well. I have idea when as of right now. I can tell you that if we had done it, I'd be a week into recovery by now and wouldn't have to wonder if this damn thing is going to shut down any time.
I may have been written off.
And all the while, the crowds applaud while Nero plays the fiddle as Rome burns.

Yes I am old and I have survived a lot, not to mention a triple bypass 2 1/2 years ago, but many of us have adult children with issues. Eevn some people have yong children with medical issues. I have a daughter, 44 that had Chrone's Disease and had the colon surgery 12 years ago. You know the colostomy bag. She deals with it and you will ever hear her complain one word about it. But she also has asma (spelling?) and she is in an at risk group I bet. I have a grand daughter and daughter in law that are nurses. I worry for them.

How many businesses actually fallowed that? Here in Ohio not much has changed.
Its supposed to be the same in Georgia, but its not happening. People are going on like it does not pertain to them. I expect that its going to get much worse in the coming week. Stay Safe Folks.

I was tested yesterday, got back results, and I have it. No big deal to me....a small fever, and a sometime cough, and gastrointestinal issues..
Wife had it as well, but we are both just about over it. As I posted, there are probably lots more cases that people have no idea about. Just writing it off as something else. We are fine....
