That little issue leads to greasing brake shoes on occasion. If they show no sign of leaking, you might get by. I would be careful washing out the bearings with solvent - if it gets to the outer seal and reacts badly, you'll get grease on the shoes. Overpacking the bearings can push grease past the seal also.
