Are you quarantined or still working ?

I am curious about what the actual percentage of people is that are stuck in their homes VS those of us that are working as if nothing happened.
This just digs at me.
Is it because I work outside that I am considered less likely to become infected or to catch it from someone else?
Are we "essential" or expendable ?

we will ALL get exposed to it
that is not the point
the point is, slowing down the rate at which we get exposed so that the hospitals can deal with the ones who get severe symptoms

Well I got an email yesterday from our management...we are no longer able to come into our offices to do our paperwork. We still have access to a restroom and shower off the lunchroom. We now hand in our bills of lading in a basket rather than our mailbox.

Most of our customers have also restricted drivers from entering their facilities.

Before this we could come in with the flu, malaria, denque fever or the clap and nobody cared.

I am thinking maybe Paraquay!??? BUT I will not get on an airplane or ship so.... parasail!???

Paraguay?

You be careful ya old fart still want to meet up with you some day.:poke:
My wife 40 years ago graduated from Tarleton State here in Tx with an ag degree. She and her husband, fresh out of college also and Viet Nam went to S Dakota right at the edge of N Dakota to manage a 30000 ac cattle ranch. He died of agent orange and cancer at age of 35. One day we will take a trip up there ( in the summer), and look you up!

That is the song that the media is playing but I look at everything with suspicion.

Thanks for the invite. I will admit I used to haul stock all over the country but I hate to drive .
I have been into S Dakota years back, maybe 100 miles. It was July and 106 degrees!!!!

Funny story on my little wife. While working that ranch, she gave birth to her first son in middle of a blizzard. She road bareback a Percheron mare out, to a neighbor and their 4 x 4 and roads. She ain't very big but she is tough!

Good woman for sure hang on to her.
Drove semi for 10 years and I hate to drive to far anymore.

The city of Springfield, and Greene county in Missouri go under a "stay at home" order effective tomorrow at midnight.

I work in semiconductor and we are considered essential due to medical, defense and communication customers. The company has gone through great lengths to protect employees. All that are not hands on are work from home. Restricted to 3 points of entry with hand sanitizer and temp taken prior to entry. Each shift enters from different part of building. Most chairs removed from break areas and being monitored for social distancing. Even closed off every other urinal. Cafe is order online and deliver to break area. So far, so good.

I drive for USF Holland. Big dip in business yesterday. so far only cut backs in OT and casuals but lay offs are coming. Non essential business shut down in ohio. My daughter is out of work. City of Macedonia still building a new brick sign for one of their buildings. Residents still going to the self car washes.

customers can no longer come in the store. they call to let us know the vehicle is here and we call for payment when done. I never would have thought it would have made a difference. vacation from impatience. pacing in front of the counter, loud exhales, checking clock on phone. Pure bliss. (not sure I would like it forever but at least for the time being its a positive to all the negative)

Got the word today that our construction is considered non-essential (commercial TI). So it looks like I’ve got at least a couple weeks off. Our company has committed to pay us for the time that we’re off!

I’m at work still like nothing has changed. Busier now than have been in a bit. Just me and owner of shop plenty of distance.

we are basically under state wide stay at home orders. I'm a machinist and our operations are considered military and government essential , so I still have a job. I don't know how in the hell they think they can enforce it. our city and state cops are on cold reporting to boot.

^^I have corn cobs, and old Sears/Roebuck catalogues on Ebay, cheap, no takers as of yet. Also have ad in local newspaper to build outhouses. Goes along with the other stuff. Have ya ever tried to flush a corn cob!!????????????????????//

My shop is essential since we work on public safety equipment but there have been zero safety measures taken here. Twice in this last week they have called everyone into the break room for meetings where everyone basically has to sit shoulder to shoulder. I just stayed at my work bench and didn't go to either of them.

On one hand it's frustrating that they've carried on like nothing is going on but on the other I'm glad I still have my job. I just know at other shops they're doing things like taking temperatures and they even hired people that go around cleaning door knobs and high traffic surfaces all day.

No temp taking at my work(yet). But, they have cleaning crews doing a lot more than usual. Most doors are propped open to eliminate touching. Keeping people separated as much as they can. No big group meetings. Eliminated shift start meetings. Took out half the chairs in meeting rooms. One chair per table in break areas...

Yep the doors being propped open is a simple and effective way to keep germs from being spread.

I read this article about this sensor that can be installed in front of businesses and it has A.I. with facial recognition and what it does is automatically take your temperature when you walk in and log it to your face and information. Big brother is coming unfortunately.

Forestry deemed essential. Lots of filtration and sanitation stuff comes from wood pulp. Not to mention toilet paper.
I’ve been working from home though. We’ve been keeping our 2 year old at home cuz he’s a little germ factory!
Stay safe out there ya’ll.
