Ask the military, they can train anyone despite their individual resistance to learning. The only resistance to learning comes from within.
Once an individual opens their mind to learning, everything changes.
My father in law was a freaking genius. Mensa member. BUT the guy could not pound a nail without a book telling him how. No way to get anything like trouble shooting thru to him...I tried, and he tried as well.....his mind was not wired that way
Isn't that interesting. I think that troubleshooting, at least with machinery and buildings, requires several things coming together. One is familiarity with the object. Another is the principles on which it works. Finally a methodology for breaking down the problem.
Most people can be trained to troubleshoot a single item in a somewhat rote fashion. But I don't think that's what you and I are talking about. That's totally doable - a guy can be a turbine mechanic on a M1 tank through training through familarity but not be able to to troubleshoot otherjet turbines. However most guys who reach that level probably have at least some ability to solve other mechanical problems. (I hope!)

Well I got back from road trip hauling some Haz Mat down to the university at Lincoln Ne. and the sun was out and the pavement was mostly dry. Snow and ice down both sides and slicker than cat snot under the overpasses in the shade. I realize it ain’t a Mopar but it is Sublime, Hah! Wife told me it was to early and to be patient. Two wheels and ice are a bad combo. You know what they say” I rode my motorcycle home in the rain and made it home alive, you said that just proves i am insane” come on spring!
Thanks. I was doing ok. Got some heartburn or something going on. And a pinch in my upper back (pretty common for me). I have had the pinch in the back cause chest pains and heart burn before. Everyone is healthy otherwise. Got a little shop time in earlier. Have cabin fever bad from working at home and the Safer at Home State Order....going to be a long month
Sorry I'm over age 60 and considered retired. Now Hoppy and my wife are IRR and could be pulled in.

yep, enlisted up to a certain age, officers can be for life depending on Branch. Several years ago, they called back a bunch of pilots, surgeons and stuff who were retired, some of whom were in the 60s for combat tours in Iraq.
Seen stranger things happen. Look at when the reactivated the Iowa for desert storm. They had to add stairlifts for some!

What really sucked was removing all the paint from the cowl vent. That took a long time.

That's what I am trying to do get the bay done and suspension back on so I can move it around outside. Killing me on the lift.
I did the cowl area and engine bay in my GTS. Much,much time. I blasted all the areas, and ended up with many rust pits to fill in. Don't think I'll take on that job again. Next time I'll pay the body guy....
I bet. I need to plan every move,so i dont get hung up and cant use mine to make money. Right now would be a perfect time,but Fargo gets priority.
