With the current Market down turn, what will happen to the prices of Cars, like Ours ? --- Your thoughts ? --

some people will need money and good deals will be out there. others won't be bothered and hold on to their stuff. and their will still be guys selling out to go buy modern muscle..

Just took a stroll thru Hemmings Muscle Cars and was quite surprised. Looks like 68-70 charges are still holding but the worst hit were 70-74 challengers. Of course you don't really know til you eyeball the cars but thats my impression. And were still not out of the woods.

People who own high value cars can usually afford to keep them in times like these.

However, these times are causing a great deal of refocusing of priorities so some deals are likely to be had.

For the average economy priced cars, they will likely be selling faster at lower prices just to get a quick sale and secure funds.

A friend from Australia called today and during the conversation said he sold his early-A Dodge Lancer yesterday. He cut his price and sold lower than he wanted to because he maintains he wouldn't have been able to sell it two weeks from now.
He wasn't able to explain his logic but he sounded like he believes collector car prices are going to take a dump because of the COVID-19 issue.

When the economy is "bad" there is less money to be spent on hobbies by the low to middle income people. Wealthy people are not really affected in the pocketbook, but they tend to spend $$$ elsewhere during these times.
Sales of lower end cars have been slow for quite a while and the high end cars have taken a big hit at the auctions last several years IMO.

It will maybe interesting to see, as this Corona deal lasts for months , IF the idiot priced projects on FB and CL actually will be advertised at a price that they will actually sell for!?

I don't need to sell nor do I need to buy.

I’m going to try and hold out before I put my project 67 Belvedere for sale. Just try get as much value as I can to pay of debt.

Even more in the near future cash will be king. I think there will be a lot fewer buyers and people that need to sell will take a lot less. Fasten your seat belt for some tough negotiating. A year from now I think the economy will have rebounded significantly but it will be a long while before we see the robust economy of January before all this really hit. Get back to me in a year and we'll see how close I was!

IN our Mopar hobby (before the Corono) I see way more cars for sale than sold cars!! Been this way a long time. As a barometer look at the classifieds in FABO or FBBO.
All us in the hobby see the sorry projects on CL and FB and shake our heads. People will either get a doze of realty or they will just sit for a few more years till they have all rotted into the ground. Except maybe the desert cars!! '
The younger generation look to more affordable toys, be it a 65 C10 Chev. pickup or a newer type muscle car, or either finance the modern muscle car and drive it as any other new car. Student debt takes a big toll on the youger crowd many times and the sheer cost of living and having that nice home boat, etc.

Plus now we have cities shutting down even very lucrative cruise nights, and wait till social distancing hits car shows. Thats the motivation that drives the younger crowd. Hope it doesn't get to just a random cool car out on a nice day.

have you seen the prices of pick ups lately? nothing cheap about them anymore. they have been the "in" thing for a few years now along with wagons and bringing good money.

Hemmings and Hagerty Ins. have some occasional comments on the market. They both say the pickup market is strong for the 60's Chev. C 10 and the rust bucket 70'ssqaure body chev. pickups mainly due to being affordable old stuff. But yes they are getting more expensive every day. As long there are people, there will be folks messing with cars of some nature. 50 years from now, maybe they will all be electric classics!!??? lol

Think it depends on the level of the car. The highest priced ones will continue to sell at there currant rate. People with that kind of money make more money, in the long run, when the market crashes. The average buyer may make a purchase, grabbing a bargain. The average guy who sells because he needs to now, will take a hit. I see the recent auction houses prices and there sell through rate was pretty consistent. We will see the facts in a couple months when spring sale figures are out. IMHO:)

affordable to who? prices are crazy on those trucks right now. parts are easy to get though..

Holding up on my BigBlock GTS. With this Corona thing going people are more concerned with their health. Thinking of testing the waters this fall

Texas is full of old trucks, some stupid price other not so much. Good muscle cars are not easy finds, especially Mopar. A $5000 old C10 that runs/drives is more affordable to the millennium than a $25000 Roadrunner! That is the point.
Tx and NJ are two different animals.

I've had my Duster since I was seventeen way back in 1981. I learned to drive in it, spent countless hours tinkering with it, and it's a part of many fond memories of road trips with friends and family members over the years. It's too much a part of my life to consider selling it, so I won't be fazed by any downturn in the market for classic cars. It wasn't going anywhere anyways.

Had a 69 Dart back in the day and I got a 69 Dart now. My present Dart would smoke the old one but still evokes great memories. My 69 Cuda used to belong to my Dad, so nuff said. They're stayin.
