Trick Flow Heads on Engine Power.

As for the blown 383 SBC....... pretty obvious to me what the problem was there once they pulled the head off.

Flat top pistons are going to yield too much compression for a roots blower combo with 10-12psi of boost, unless you’re running some really good gas.

Maybe on one of the previous episodes featuring that build they mention what the CR was, but even if they were 72cc heads the CR would be up very close to 10:1.

As seen in the chart, 10:1 + 10psi is equivalent to over 16:1CR.
Roots blowers generate a lot of heat in the manifold, which exacerbates the detonation problem.

Around 8:1 and 6-7psi is a much more street duty combination...... especially considering the vehicle they plan on putting that motor in.
