I’ve heard of a lot of guys using a starter out of a late model 360 or 318 so I went to the auto parts store and picked up a starter for a 2000 Dodge ram 360 I have a 340 with a set of TTI step up headers and the starter contacts the header any ideas

I just went through this.

Take a look at DELCO 3371096, or NAPA NEU 4N6415. The NAPA starter lists the following:

Dodge B150 1/2 Ton - Van 1991 - 1993
Dodge B250 3/4 Ton - Van 1991 - 1993
Dodge B350 1 Ton - Van 1990 - 1993
Dodge B350 1 Ton - Van 1994 - 1994
Dodge D150 1/2 Ton - Pickup 1991 - 1993
Dodge D250 3/4 Ton - Pickup 1991 - 1993
Dodge D350 1 Ton - Pickup 1991 - 1993
Dodge Dakota 1991 - 1995
Dodge Ram 1500 1/2 Ton - Pickup 1994 - 1995
Dodge Ram 1500 1/2 Ton - Van 1994 - 1995
Dodge Ram 1500 1/2 Ton - Wagon Van 1994 - 1995
Dodge Ram 2500 3/4 Ton - Pickup 1994 - 1995

I went with the POWERMASTER 9613 which was just a few bucks more, on my 408 with the TTI step headers. About 1/8" clearance in just a couple of spots at the front of the starter. Debating whether to use my heat shield wrap which would be resting on the header tubes.

The problems are often in the electrical terminal / terminal adapter. Some of those come with sort of an adapter which can be removed to configure the electrical terminals. Some versions of those can be 'clocked.' Sorry I don't know that specific starter. I used a Dakota application in the 90's with Hedman headers

If I get time tonight I’m going to go Out to the garage and give it another look this damn combo is killing me I have the B1 heads with the TTI headers I basically had to cut three of the tubes and reroute them but the one that is close to the starter I have not relocated I never did have the starter fully bolted in going to bolted all the way in and see exactly what I’m dealing with but damn it’s close If not hitting I will keep you updated it would be nice if I could just use this damn starter do you not want to go up to the part store with this corona going on

Damn that looks like the same starter I have I’ll have to get out to the garage tomorrow and double check everything before I finish welding up this header
