Hello all, just bought a 64 Dodge Dart GT. Doing some preliminary upgrades, like Electronic ignition and rear air shocks....

Looking forward to hanging around ... working on that 1bbl off idle stumble right now. Brand new carb, but the Accelerator pump doesnt seem to be doing its job :)

The Puget Sound is, what it is, in a constant State of Flux. I was born on the Olympic Peninsula, Port Angeles, so a Tacoma born Dude to me is a City Slicker :) lol Love it....

Yeah Taxes suck, I hear u on that, but my water is clean, schools are good, medical and healthcare is world reference standard, I got Trees, mountains, water, snow, deserts, wildlife, seafood, beef, wine beer, Rain Forests, ... & legal pot..... Price you pay I guess.. When I retire soon, Im going to have to move due to COL.... Costa Rica is on the front burner

Thanks All, appreciate the Welcome aboard.... I myself was quite surprised by its condition, so was my Car Buddy, which by The Rules, u have to have along to look @ a potential purchase, and talk u out of it.. :) It was one of those, I cannot pass this thing by.... I was also given a binder of paperwork....

Nice car and welcome. Run from the air shocks though if it is for a ride height go with coil over shocks in the rear.

Thanks for that, not planning to jack her up, but only putting 60 to 70 +/- pounds to level her out if/when I go with a trailer in my retirement. Back in the day, when everybody had air shocks to the ceiling I rode in a few with that pressure, and the ride was just fine... more recently was my now retired Duster.

Hello Again... Ive been having a fun with my new Toy, cruising the threads here and surviving in a WFH environment. Ive noticed that my Car has been called a "Survivor" by Folks here and my Friends, and I get the reference, and that got me to wondering. Do I keep it completely stock, OEM so to speak, or can I do minor bolt on w/o violating the spirit of the Original? Things like new ignition, 14" rims and tires, swapping the Master cylinder for a dually?? Installing a Dome light? Front disks? Pump Window washer?? If for anything, these upgrades seem like solid safety/reliability things to do.

Just thinking out loud.

Yes I recognize those pictures from Craigslist. I was showing that car to my wife and what a great price!!.. she doesn't want anything hot rod just nice and clean and the slant 6 would have been perfect with the push-button transmission as well.. she regrets getting rid of her 66 barracuda about 4 years ago... She's seen a 64 at the swap meet about 2 years ago and really liked what she seen..
Congratulations on the score...

Welcome from Texas nice clean 64. If you want to change things on the car, do so it's your car. As stated, run from the air shocks, have the springs rebuilt & re-arched & put a good set of shock absorbers in it.

Welcome...from a just a bit north of y'all. You won't even need 60-70 lbs in them shocks...I have 30 in mine and it gives me a 2 inch lift...and all the BS about broken upper shock mounts is just that!..Don't put 150 psi in them and you'll be just fine. As to mods, it's up to you, but, I would do safety upgrades, like the dual master cylinder with or w/o front disks (A bodies are small cars and really don't need disks, unless you're going to rally the car.) A dome light is a safety feature, especially at night. Electronic ignition, etc that can removed later if desired, are good upgrades too.

Check the car’s wiring and replace if hasn’t been.

Great Dart!!!! Yes I personally would keep it mostly original, but things that can be changed back to original would be my plan. Changing wheel size, ign. new engine harness wiring.. just keep the old stuff!!! I would also re arch the rear springs, ..air shocks suck sorry. Welcome!!!
