About 10 minutes ago the couch started to shake . I thought it was Melissa shaking it until I realized she was in the other room !

The whole house swayed ! And I have 20ft ceilings so you could actually see the house moving !
The epicenter was right outside Boise I guess.. someone said a 6.3 !

USGS posts it was a 6.5 !

I have never been in one... pretty cool !
Our relatives in Los Angeles had a really big one quite a while ago. The water in their swimming pool went woosh, whoosh back and forth and then right out of the pool. No thanks. Not for me, I'll stay in Minnesota and put up with cold instead. LOL.
Be safe

What a coincidence ! The first person Icalled was my brother in Champlin .

This one was shallow, only 10 km deep. It was also along the same fault line as the one that hit Salt Lake City a couple of weeks ago. Probably a secondary strain relief to that one.

The mountains do continue to grow as the plates grind and pushes them up!

Been pretty quiet around here in the quake department lately. Parkfield Ca. just up the road a piece, right on the San Andreas Fault, has a USGS lab, the whole bit, nuthin' lately.

We had several here in Northern Utah these last two weeks.

It would solve many problems for many of us........permanently!

Indeed. It would leave a really big hole in the ground, too. Scientists have discovered in the last ten years that the Yellowstone caldera is MUCH bigger than they first thought.......and it was already the biggest caldera in the world. That thing would slap blow the country IN HALF if it blew.

Hell yeah. I wanna see that beeotch go.
The world will see that thing go up. Krakatoa was theorized as the cause of the red sunset in Edvard Munch's 2 paintings, "Despair" and "The Scream" but that is debatable as Krakatoa went up in 1883, 9 years before the 2 were painted in Norway, 1892,3 unless he remembered the fiery sunsets the world witnessed in 1883-4 from the globe circling ash.

Had a minor tremor here about 10 years ago, middle of afternoon sitting at dining room table. Felt something odd, then noticed water swaying back and forth in water cooler. Pretty odd feeling.
I can DO WITHOUT a 6.5...NO THANK YOU

Maybe I've had one too many quarantinis tonight - because I'm not sure I would have even noticed if my cats hadn't alerted me.

I haven’t felt any for a couple of hours here in northern Utah.
