Improper engine break in.
X2 that is what I do.
True story had two buddies buy identical Harleys.
One putted around on it, the second one I broke it in for him, pulled the front brake and smoked the tire off, shifting thru several gears.
Years later the one I broke in was noticeably faster, and used less oil.
