Nitrous plumbing A1A...??..

-
Later today the plan is to vacuum the passenger side and put the seat back in.
Left to do list:
Adjust timing and check to make sure retard works properly..
Put race fuel in standalone system and check for leaks and adjust pressure...
Buy a nitrous bottle, gauge, blow down tube mount it and fill it...
My wife has told me in no uncertain terms that I've completely lost my mind if I think she's going to be in it when I push the button...
I called my best friend yesterday and told him he was next in line... I didn't want to stand there alone waiting for the tow truck by myself LOL....

It will be fine as long as you are going straight when you open it up.
It will not be as violent as you think it will be.
Tires do have to have traction.

My plan for my first hit was to get going about 45 and rake it down into third gear making sure it's past 3K and give it a hit.. I have 275 60 15 nitto 555 drag radials so I'm thinking I got pretty good traction at least at that speed...

Well the weather held off and I was able to get the car out. I got it good and warmed up and reset the timing. I believe I set it up to 34 all in now. It was at 33. I set the step at 4 degrees..
I went in and got my wife and had her sit in the driver's seat. I've turned on the arming switch on and had her hit the button at my signal. I held the full throttle switch while opening it up to about three grand and holding the timing light on it. Told her to give it a hit and it dropped four degrees... Then I held the full throttle switch open and had her hit it at idle and you could obviously tell the idle dropped when she held the button so all is well..
Next step will be testing and setting the fuel pressure...

There was some questions being asked about my personal engine and nitrous setup on another thread and again I'm willing to answer any questions people have..

It's ALL in the tune on anything. Why can one person get a car to run 120 and another gets the same car to run .1-.3 and 2-3 MPH faster. It's the tune and hook.

Nitrous is no different. Base deal. If the fuel jet is the same size or larger than the N2o jet, it's a junk tune at the plate. Too much timing KILLS more juice engines than juice itself (back to the tune up). Run safeguard, fuel pressure switch, window switch, etc to try and protect the engine. Same as a rev limiter, it's there for a reason.
I quoted you over here because this is about my current setup. That other thread is just asking a question and trying to keep my personal build out of it. About your timing... And especially when you talked about rev limiters? I have a rev limiter but somewhere in my research I was told you don't want to hit your rev limiter while on nitrous..
And what you said about the fuel jet being the same size as the nitrous jet? I took that as a bad thing?...

^^^^besides the unanswered above there were a couple other people asking questions on that other thread about the differences between power adders...
Or specifically about my setup which that thread wasn't about...
One was about my current ET slips..
When the car was set up for mostly drag racing only pretty much I was in the low 11s, but now I'm more in street trim: steel wheels, full interior, and less aggressive cam it's in the low 12's...
The next question I was asked was what ET am I expecting using nitrous?..
If anybody's been able to halfway fallow along with this thread, I've pointed it out several times the nitrous is just for learning experience.. mostly just for a "watch this!" moment... I've got many other new things to test out at the track before I try a nitrous shot...
Another question was what preparations as far as ring gaps bearing clearances etc do I have in preparation for nitrous?..
Answer.. non... Pretty much a five year old bracket prepped motor...

Just got one of the last pieces of the puzzle......

:D...

LOL.. the rest of the story... I couldn't get that blow off valve unscrewed so I had to give it a little heat.. I need to put a blow-off tube on there to have it exit the car..
Today just getting the bottle and brackets test fitted and oriented... Tomorrow I'll try and mount the brackets...

Agree BUT
All it take is a nos cyl, to not even hang open, but to leak or not seal 100%, without you knowing, and Boom there goes your nice carbs and tunnel ram intake..................
This is my thread about my nitrous...
The other one you quoted me on was about the stigma nitrous has opposed to other power adders..
So to address your comment, both carbs and the tunnel Ram add up to about $1,000...(new) I've seen more than that spent on one carburetor... If you read this thread you'll see me taking every precaution possible including buying new parts... Also if you've read it you've seen where people have done it for years with no problems.. I'm not trying to give it a 1000 horsepower pro mod nitrous shot LOL..
How many YouTube videos can you pull up were someone is saying "Holley crap!" my cars on fire LOL...
Life doesn't have very much guarantees...

Fun fact: one thing I've noticed about the nitrous solenoid as compared to the fuel or even the purge solenoid is it takes considerably more amps to open it up...
This leads me to believe that it has a much stronger return spring to keep the door closed as it needs much more amps to open it up...

I was totally baffled at the no response on your other thread........that's never happen before:D

I have no doubt that that's what your doing and will do.
Yes we have a guy with a something gen camaro, that has been running nos for as long as i have know him with 0 nos backfires.
Year before last, he started having a popping and banging out the tailpipe at the top end.
Next race it was back to normal. He said he had to rebuild his fuel cycloid and decide to go threw the hole system.

So yes you can run nos for year without a problem and problem can be minor.............them u-tube nos video is what will keep me away from leaning the in and out of a nos setup.

Spent 2 years learning about turbos and never install one in the end. may happen someday when i'm rich or learn how to weld/tig.

I don't see any day i would go down the nos road.
I figured this was/would mess up your thread is why i posted on the nos stigma thead.

I will take 8 holleys leaking fuel down the intake, and take fire over ONE small fuel/nos leak and a fire.
You tell me which car will burn to the ground the fastest.....................................

Did you really mount the bottle right behind your seat?

No I'm going to mount it tomorrow behind my wifes seat lol...
I thought you were mounting it under the seat.
Like Dom in fast and the furious. lol
I know you're gonna say 'SEE YA " like Letty did when she pushed the button. lol
I can see that **** eating grin on your face already.lol

That is not very nice...........
Funny story:... The very last time LOL my wife rode in the car was when we went to the track and I had a 6 gallon can of mixed race fuel behind her seat. And the reason I'm laughing is because it was memorably the last time LOL.. as a matter of fact the only time I remember her cursing at me ever... Some Honda pulled up next to me on the way back and started revving its motor... That's when I grabbed the gear and the cursing started lol... I think she would prefer a bottle of air instead of a bottle of race gas behind her... IF.. I never get her to get in the car again LOL...

Placed my brackets and mark them and heated up a punch to make burn holes in the carpet...

Not keen on the bottle behind the seats.
I put it in the trunk behind the right tire and ran the line outside the body. Sanctioning body will not like this at the strip. Weekend warrior take your chances.

What won't they like about it?..
