Tracks closing for 2020 because of virus

-
I know You're concerned about this virus as we all are, so this event could pose a problem

Do you believe you couldn't race during this virus event with creating space between racers and staff.
Allowing no spectators in the stands and only a few in the racers pit.
It’s a giant social, hard to stay away from people, (not for me because I have common sense) not easy for everyone.

I'm asking about weekly racing at local tracks.

I can also see this as an easy outlet without keeping people too close. There's not enough people coming to our local events to not be able to stay 30p feet apart in the stands and staying away from each other in the staging lanes and such..

I suppose it will also affect Carlisle in a July and the Nats in Aug
Here's the deal. Even if the virus peaks out and is much better this summer, I doubt it will be completely gone. I will be willing to resume my life to a great extent, but going to a large show with thousands of other people probably won't happen. I have a reduced immune system, and need to be extra careful. If the big shows are open for us this summer I would plead with everyone to still be as careful as possible; at least for a while.

Well said !

I think it's exactly what they're telling us...
Yes like if you gather in large groups, you will get it and possibly die , is it worth the risk ? All aside the car culture is very small compared to professional sports ,hockey,football,baseball.....

There’s no way to safety hold an event right now. Racers are going to gather, track crews, tower workers, plus technically we in Pa have rules against more than 10 people events. I heard rumors of an east coast underground race last weekend by special invite only but that’s not something I would attend. I have several health strikes against me so I limit myself to my Riverwalks where I see maybe 6 people during my walks and a shopping trip every 10 days or so.

I absolutely agree with ya bud, we’re all in this **** together, and we gotta look out for each other !

The best we can do is remain cautious and courteous during these trying times.

all tracks closed where im at,one local track was going to do a test and tune sat and sun,10 cars in morning, ten cars in afternoon both days, but some reason, they cancelled, guess they dont want to get in trouble,i hear a lot of guys will be street racing

I know one of the guys that possibly went to the secret society race but I don’t know him well enough to dig into it.

What REALLY sucks is that I-70 Speedway, in Kansas city JUST re opened after several years of being abandoned. They're the first strip in kc since kcir got shut down a decade ago. And now they're trying to stay afloat in all this?

Something to ponder: even if you could hold an event and keep everyone away from one another... What happens if someone gets hurt and needs an ER? it's not unheard of at a racing event. If hospitals are already swamped, the last thing they need is a car wreck victim, or a fisherman with hypothermia or a deep wound from a slipped filet knife..

It's not just about distance and slowing the spread, it's about pressure on hospitals and emergency services too.

**** americans can't even follow a simple stay in place order for god sakes, you really think they could gather at a drag strip and not be on top of each other some how? so far this entire thing has been an example of how the stupid ruin things for everyone.
