Mechanical never lies.

Jake
true, but if an electrical oil pressure gauge fails I dont know what my oil pressure is
if a mechanical oil pressure fail, I now have hot oil spraying where? my headers, my feet, who knows

^^ MIne just drip, not spew. I must have low oil prsssure or a small tube!! loll

Don't get us all arguing about points vs electronic!!!lol

Only milleniums use electric fans and Nerds use FI !! hahahha

Electric windows are for modern cars, handicapped people and old caddy's!!

Chokes are for cars NORTH of South Tx. or the Red River.

Electric motor would be cool

Electric valves could be intresting

Mechanical never lies.

Actually they can and do. I spent "some time" doing HVAC service. It is imperative that especially the suction side gauge be correct, and they ain't always.

^^ I met a bona fife pot head other day, he hadn't even heard of Corona virus 19. He didn't even know they have stopped making corona beer. He did'n't even know it is legal in Co. He does not even know where Co is. He thins Colorado is a county in South Ca.!!!!
Maybe there are advantages to being a pot smoking doper????

I feel when we talk (joke) about it loosely the rest of the world thinks we're a bunch of fry brained pot head's...
how do I put this delicately...sober people don't throw chickens ?

Electric valves.... Think of the the duration... Instant open, instant close. Just have to watch out for the pistons.

And who said the valve had to be the type we use today. How about a rotating disc with a hole in it. Or a sliding plate like a guillotine dog nail trimmer

Outside the box thinking is what drives inovation

okay now that's just crazy talk! And move away from our 50s tractor technology ,never

Sliding valves? Two words... "Apex Seals" :poke:
Actually I think Formula 1 engines that turn up to 20,000 rpm use pneumatic valve springs.

My Speed-O works.
The rest are oem, slow as molasses, reliable as the weather channel, rough indicators of what may, or may not be going on under the hood.
Since my Speed-O is circa 1970Duster, it is mechanical.

I think the Speed-O is the most important gauge, because without it, Ima thinking the cops wouldda nailed my butt about a million times, and I wouldda had to remortgage the house to stay outta jail. But since it does work, and I watch it like it was my wife's tiney hiney, I have never had a speeding ticket in that car. And so, I have saved enough money to build several spare engines, in case this one should fail.
Touch wood,so far so good,since 1999.
Your results may vary.

Three things I work hard to never bring into my cabin; things that could; hurt my body, hurt my spirit, or hurt my soul.
So; an angry wife; not a chance;and
strange flesh; not a chance; and
hot engine oil; not a chance.

Unless your gauges are in your face, by the time you realize that something is wrong, it's already too late, and the gauges only verify what your brain is already telling you. If I had an oil-pressure gauge, I'd likely be watching that instead of the Speed-O, and I'd likely be broke and single living in a cardboard box, for lack of funds due to speeding tickets..
