Holley pump using stock tank!

Thats pretty cool but a bit spendy, you can make the same thing for about 1/3rd of that price if you are willing to do a little work. The fuel pump is a Walbro 255 which you can buy for like $20 off eBay which is exactly what they are using. The real challenge is the wiring, but it can be as simple as running the wires from the pump through the sending unit plate and sealing them with something like JB weld (the tuner guys have been doing this for a while, especially those who convert to something like an LS). I am building one of these right now for a 69 Ply Wagon project.

Yeah I get that! This would be more for the type of guy who's got more money than time and doesn't feel like doing that sort of thing!
 
ebay walbro's can be a real gamble. some of them are complete crap. only real special piece is the hydra mat. Also not a fan of the barbed end for a high pressure line either
 
I agree the hydramat is about the only thing different or advantageous about this setup. I get that eBay pumps might be a gamble but it isn't that hard to replace and given that this Holley system is $300+, I am thinking you could buy a lot of pumps. That said, I am sure there is a better source than eBay for a quality pump.
 
I just installed one of these last weekend. I'm using it to supply fuel to my Holley sniper EFI. I've started it and let it idle for a bit but dont have any drive time yet.

I like that its QUIET, its nearly silent. It also has a built in regulator so I didn't have to run a return line! I checked the sending unit with an ohm meter and it looked to be smooth and accurate also.

Similar option would be the Spectra SP196A1H unit that's been out for a couple years- just doesn't have the Hydramat and uses a return line. I've had one in my wagon for about a year now, no issues. RockAuto $166.

****. better off spending an extra $120 and getting a tanks inc kit from summit. comes with a tank, new straps, pump and sender.
 
I looked into the tanks inc setup. I had already replaced my tank two years ago so I didn't need a new tank. The holley is a drop in unit with an internal regulator. Running a return hose wouldn't be hard but not doing it at all is even easier!

The spectra unit looks good and has a walbro brand pump (so i've heard). But the spectra stock sending units are extremely unreliable and just dont work. I have a spectra stock replacement A body sending unit on the shelf that was pretty bad.
 
thing that would worry me about that holley thing is if you are down to say a 1/4 tank of gas and that pick up coming uncovered ans it shuts the engine off. carb doesn't do it because of the reserve in the fuel bowls.

The hydramat is pretty cool in how it works. If any part of the mat is touching fuel, it'll pick it up without pulling air. I dont know how it works, but it does!

I made my first drive yesterday! I had dropped the tank to verify it was clean and I dumped the fuel out. I put one gallon of gas in it and drove it about 3 miles to a gas station! I watched the screen most of the way there and I never saw it go lean.
