Complete 6 pack find- not mine

-
EFI 6 pack is the way to go, I have a BB and a SB version using F&B throttle bodies and am working on a Fitech "tri-power" (aka 6 pack) for a 440 equipped 69 Belvedere wagon.
Start a thread on you progress.

I bought a 72 cuda with a 340 for $1500. It had a complete six pack and its like new. I still have that one. I also picked up a spare original intake when the price started shooting up on these. That cuda also had an original B body dana under it and came with a NOS grill. Sold the rear for what I paid for the whole car then sold the stripped rolling shell for another $500. Wish I could find more deals like that one.
So I wonder if its a licensing issue keeping edelbrock from making the intakes. Sure seems to be plenty of demand for them.

Here are some pictures. The one I am working on now I have a thread on FBBO (69 Belvedere Wagon Upgrade)

I have my eye on the six pack throttle bodies for my stroked 340 build. Its going in my 71 cuda clone.

I've always been intrigued by the six pack and would like to give it a try when I get there on my project. The STR12 is in the hunt too. What carbs would you recommend for the six pack?
Holly still makes 340 six pack carburetors there's spending but in my opinion the best way to go is new. I was fortunate enough to find a set with one year of service on them so they were like new in pristine condition. It is a very good setup when it's working correctly one of the best for the street but you don't want somebody else's problems and that's what you can get with older carburetors

As cool as a 6-hole throttle body is it is not a six pack just like Cuda with a Hemi put in it doesn't make it a Hemi Cuda it is a clone or a tribute

From an "original" sense you would be correct but neither of my cars is a V code car so it really doesn't matter. When I drop the 66 426 Hemi into my 70 Roadrunner (that was originally a 383 car) I will happily call it a Hemi Roadrunner.

That is sweet. I may have have to punt my idea for individual throttle bodies.

I would say up front that the Fitech "tripower" system is a pretty good way to go now. Had that been around when I was doing mine I probably would have gone that way. Far cheaper and pretty easy to install.

My Cuda is using a FAST EZ 1.0 controller and harness which is ok but is strictly self learning, meaning you have to live with whatever it does. My Challenger has a Holley HP ECU/Harness with a Hall Effect distributor and I have full control over spark and fuel. There is a steep learning curve with controllable EFI but once you have it and understand it (even just in the basic sense) it is so much nicer that not having it. Both of my cars have MSD 6AL ignitions so there is that. The self learning aspect is cool but to be able to pull or add timing or fuel anywhere in the RPM range is so versatile I see why the tuners are able to do what they do.

You are glutton for punishment to go old school 6-pack. Even with the "Cool" factor.

In your opinion is the Fast set up worth the money over carbs?

Do you mean the Fitech system? Yes, I would definitely go that route over carbs if I was doing anything other than a V code car or really wanted a V code clone. In other words, if you want to drive it, but not super often and want it to be reliable go with the EFI system. I realize that carbs have been around for a very long time and do work, but IMO they require a ton more tuning and work than an EFI system. Conversely, an EFI system will cost more and require more work to install in the beginning but pay dividends in the long run.

I might consider the Fitech system, I have not built the engine yet for my 70 Challenger. I do have a bare std bore 69 440 HP block and a new 6-pac manifold, no carbs.
I am thinking a 512 kit, aluminum heads, with the 6-pac FI set up would make an nice driver.

If anyone ever sees a 6 pak in my car again, it will likely be Mountain Dew's in the cooler! I stumbled on one at work one day....linkage, choke, coil bracket and all for a small block, and had the aluminum air cleaner like on GSS Demons on it. I asked the guy what he was gonna do with it, and he told me "Same thing I been doing with it for the last 15 years.....using it as a door stop!" I asked if he would take $20 for it cause it was all dirty and dusty from sitting in his shop? He told me nope! I asked what would he take for it? He says " $20 and a concrete block to take it's place." I handed him $20 and went up the road and found a cinder block....lol. I ended up putting it on my 340 in my Challenger conv when I restored it, and never could get it to work right. I hated it! I sold the whole motor to my friend Jason in Tulsa, and built a milder 360 to put in the car. He sold it to someone else....so which ever one of you Boomer Sooners have it now, please don't hate me! LOL :elmer:

I thought this was a thread about six packs don't know how we got into fuel injection, which trust me many people are unsatisfied with. But I'm not here to argue my 6-pack runs beautifully and I am proud that I have the ability to tune and enjoy a piece of mopar history if you just want easy and modern buy an SRT why waste your time with any old systems

Wow. Ive had 3 6pack setups on small blocks, all 340's except the current one Im putting together. 1st one was a basket case, Id bought when at Whiteman AFB Mo. Problems all the way till I sold it! Worked on and learned a lot about holleys and common problems with them for awhile. Second setup, I bought a decent set of mechanical carbs for and sold the vacuum carbs. Took about o month to get it right! Then I plumbed a hidden Nitrous setup to the bottom of it and ran 1 bottle thru it. Ran like a scalded dog! No traction what so ever. Took it to the track at KCIR, and didnt/couldnt get a good timeslip with the Nitrous. Left there and spent 10 more years at various bases. Now that Ive been retired for awhile, been collecting pieces for 4 years. Picked up a 71 Demon at Christmas, and completeing the metal work now. ( Have a 360 with a complete stroker kit, 6pack with mechanical secondaries.) AND... have a hidden nitrous kit (250 direct injection) to plumb into it. Lot of work to come! But knocking it out slowly with this extra time I seem to have till I go back to work.. more to come... will update more 6pack stuff after I finally start on the driveline.

If you don't mind me asking what was the main issues with getting the mechanical carbs dialed in? I have a setup with fresh mechanicals waiting for me to finish the motor.
