DentalDart wire em up to the orange dash wiring this way they will dim and brighten with the rest of the dash lights with the headlight switch dimmer.

Great sounding exhaust! What mufflers are you running?

Thanks and I agree.
Super old- hooker comp headers, 2.5in exhaust and flowmaster 40s. I bet the stuff is from the 90s. Now I'm torn if I should change them up.

All I did was tinfoil and water the exhaust tips to make me shine.

Well I gotta say, they sound awesome! Nice masculine exhaust note.

I heard a sound bite of some Borla's, but, I think the flowmasters sound much better. Nice job.

@70aarcuda you were probably tight and my trans cable wasnt adjusted properly, I'll drive it in a bit and report back.

@69_340_GTS I downloaded their instructions... I adjusted the cable the opposite of what it says to do. :p Now it's done exactly per their instructions.

same as i had on my 73' challenger. got some nasty letters from the home owners association after going to work at 3am a couple times :steering:

It's not like they could fine you though right? My wife gets mad if I start the car to late because its "to loud." I like loud though.

I like loud though.

When you get old enough, loud is the only way you can tell it's running. I had a similar conversation with my GF. She thinks I play the shop tunes too loud and will lose more of my hearing. My thought is, should that happen just get a bigger amp.

Tried driving it again... it did the same sputter thing from the other day... but this time the car also died... it will turn over and instantly dies. My daughter said "I think it's out of gas, you should get more gas... dad you should call your friend to come fix it..." thanks for the vote of confidence you little ****...

That's one fine looking automobile right there! Nice job on the build, I've been following along since I'm in a similar boat.

I dont know what is going on. When I adjust the lokar cable tighter it will move, but doing that it makes the gas cable so tight that it makes pressing the pedal really hard. When I adjust the cable a little more loose the car doesn't want to move at all or it will do its stutter thing. Reverse seems fine but putting it into drive is a no go.

I wonder if now the trans has to much fluid? When I checked yesterday the dipstick was low today it looks high. Fml

So, it will start up , idle, rev up in park/ neutral ok ? But doesn't want to move when placed in drive or reverse?? Check tranny level when warmed up, in neutral, on a level surface ( on street, wheels turned into curb) or block wheels ; with your helper in the house.

Yea it wasnt wanting to start, I added 2 gallons of gas (had to go buy a can) which is weird because my gas guage says close to 1/2 tank and I can hear it sloshing around in there. My guage has always worked. I adjusted the idle now close to 950-1k and she fired right up a couple of times.

I checked fluid in neutral when warm in my garage. It read low, added 1.5ish qts and now it reads high, but also I'm not on a completely level surface because I'm not in the garage. I guess I could back the car in... I know I lost some trans fluid when I had everything apart, but holy heck this is frustrating.

Try and new ballast resistor, and the little chick knows a good mechanic....

Believe me, we all feel your pain after getting one thing done, and then something else pops up. Too much tranny oil is worse than a little low from what I've read. I know nothing regarding the locar cable system, maybe trace it back to the tranny connection? Hopefully one of the numerous pros chime in soon!

Yea she does. Why a new ballast resistor?

Because maybe it's not getting enough ohms while in gear which would cause it to die. It's only not wanting to move forward though. I'll definitely try and get a new resistor, I'm supposed to study for a huge path final at some point this weekend, want to study and take my test for me?! Please.

Have you verified the position of the throttle valve arm on the transmission? I believe steps 9 & 10 on the adjustment/install instructions.

Yea I've read that it cause cause it to get foamy air bubbles in the trans and this can cause sluggish shifting. When I shift from neutral into 1st I can feel the transmission engaging into gear but then it doesn't want to go. I would assume reverse wouldn't work either though?

I read the lokar instructions and when I adjust it per the instructions it takes a long pedal throw to get the car to move. When I tightened it it did the whole stutter thing. Heres where it's at now...

No... I'm assuming that's on the transmission itself... under the car? I dont see it on this though. It was working fine before taking it apart I'm sure it will end up being something super easy that I f'd up.

Justin, take air cleaner off and see if choke is slammed shut. It can also keep a engine from running not allowing enough air in carb. If the choke is shut, open it up and place a long screw driver or something else to keep from closing and see if it will stay running.

It will stay running. I adjusted the idle a little again.

might want to make sure the distributor has not moved...check the timing...

Agree, check timing . Also possible: I had a carb / intake gasket that was crap once that allowed enough of a vacuum leak to cause the engine to die when put into gear but it would idle fine. If I gave it enough gas( pump shot) it would go but was sluggish.

Timing may be off? At idle I have 12 but giving it throttle by 1900 rpms it looked like I was already at 35 unless I'm seeing the incorrect timing mark, but I doubt that is the case as it's not that much movement in the mark.
