The keepers I mentioned above are steel.

They were intact on my (then) 49 year old Valiant when I had to drop the Y-pipe to install a new oil pan gasket.

They held when I removed the nuts from below with my 1/2" drive impact.

So how 'kinda permanent' are you after? ;-)
