The last 18 inches or so of both my rear frame rails are rotted, but the rest are perfect I'd hate to have to buy 2 complete rear frame rails just for sections, does anyone manufacture sections of the frame,
1968 GTS

got a welder?

these are just the straight pieces, correct?
you can splice some new ones in easy enough, i would think

the whole back is rotted the ends and the leaf spring brackets, I do weld, but figured its easier just to buy something if available

Parts cars. I also have complete rear frame rails already cut out.

I bent about a 20” length of frame rail for the front of mine. Bent some 14ga in my home made brake. Cut a pie wedge out of the middle to make the bend.

It’s your car, but if I was repairing a GTS I would replace the rails. This is just my opinion. Any pictures of the rust?

I bought some here from a member for the Duster and welded them in...about 15" on both sides. Take your time it's not too bad. I put some 14ga rectangle tubing inside of the rails on the car to help with alignment and acts like a backing plate while welding them in. Had it done in a day...it was a pretty long day...then patched up the trunk floor the next day..

No problem doing the work just need the brackets to do the job, if I don't find any I'll just fab my own

Any idea of what the part's name is / what it's referred to as? I'm trying to evaluate a Dart my dad left behind when he passed. Crawled under the back and looked up to about exactly the last 15" on both sides being rusted out. Starting my parts list now to see if it's realistic for me.

They are just called rear frame rails.

Thanks. I can’t find any with that kickout on it. All the ones I found are just the rail. Would you happen to know the panel they attach to? Sorry for the million questions, I’m just getting back into cars with my dad’s falling into my lap.

The "kick out"is just part of it, its where yhe leaf spring mount bolts to it. These cars are unibody so the frame rails spot weld to the body. These sections are spot welded to the trunk floor and to the rear panel where the bumper brackets mount.

I also think you may have misunderstood my post with the pictures of the rail sections. You can't just buy sections like that, they dont make 15 inch long section like that. These were cut out of a car that a member was parting out.

That would explain things, haha. Those look great for being chopped from another car! Thanks for taking the time to explain it.

You need to start a wanted thread if you are looking for parts.
