I have a 73 Dart and am swapping out the 318 for the 440. I ordered the swap kit from Schumacher in November. They continued to tell me 2 or 3 weeks. Now they stopped returning my emails and their phones have been down for months. What are my options if I don't have the swap kit? I can't find any other swap kits and I have not had any luck finding a big block K member. Thoughts? Anyone selling mounts or K members? Thanks, Nick.

That can be a problem. There are other kits available so you can shop around a bit or you can use a motor plate or you can have a DC type K member built from a late model spool mount K.

Schumacher has gone bye-bye, at least for the time being; I hear they've been bought out?
Trans-Dapt has B/RB mounts, but only for '67-'72 k members, /6 & V8. If you can score an earlier K for cheap, you'll be golden.

You may have luck calling around, someone may have a leftover set of Schumachers on the shelf. Or start a part wanted thread here.
Otherwise you'll be fabbing your own. Not terribly difficult.

^^In fact there was a thread on this recently. Jim has some / a YouTube video up on this and other subjects

Thank you, Everyone! I've also heard Schumacher is down for a while. I wish they'd at least get back to me about a refund.

After reading through everything, I think it'll be easiest to use the motor plate for now. The cutting and welding is not my strong suit for the frame. I know I can bolt and then weld the motor plate. I appreciate everyone's feedback!

File a complaint with PayPal if you used them. I got the same run around for over a month. I filed a complaint with PayPal and my mounts were "found on a shelf" and in my hands in 3 days.

If you paid with a credit card file a claim with them at least you will get your money back

Or if you're local, go over there and beat Michael's ***. A lot of people would pat you on the back.

Iv said this before but I hate to see this happen with Schumacher I had such a great experience with them I hate that they have resorted to this type of business. If your going out of business or selling or whatever than stop taking freaking orders stop taking peoples money!! Stop tarnishing a good company that has been around as long as iv been around cars. I dont know what's going on over there but i hate to see it! I sure do hope you get your money back. Or the parts you need. I sent a pair of slant six to 318 mounts back and traded them for slant six to 360 mounts I wish now I would have kept them and just bought the 360 ones I could have used them to blueprint out my own and start making them myself.

Unfortunately I hate to but I have to agree i don't know if its Michael's doing or not but they are screwing over alot of people!

All Michael has to do is let everyone know what's goin on. He hasn't and that's shady. I do hope though that it's not health related, I really do. I've heard nothing regarding that, so I have to assume not.

Yea that why I agree with you lol all they gotta do it shut the site down and stop taking freaking money. That is shady as crap. The fact that he had his car for sale tells me that maybe he got into some financial trouble and they are still taking orders but cant fulfill them. That's downright shitty. But that's all an assumption i have no idea what's going on. I too hope it's not health related!

That's all we can do is assume since he;s not told anyone anything and seems to be avoiding people. I need a set of his mounts for my car, but I'm not sending money to him no even if he gets them back in stock. I'll make them.

Or, I have a spool mount K-member that has been notched to clear a BB oil pan and the spool mounts were altered so that the top half bolts down and when mounted one way it is for a SB, unbolt them and turn them around and it's for a BB.

I agree. What kind of piece of **** is this guy?
If you don't want to be in business anymore, fine....close the doors, shut down the website, disconnect the phone lines and take no more money.

If making a DC k-member is not something you want to tackle, I can convert your k-member. Where are you located?

Thank you. I'm going to go with the motor plate. I have a plan as to where to mount everything, and I think it will be easier to fit in the headers. I appreciate the offer!

How about some of you creative people just duplicating these mounts ???

The Schumacher spool mounts SUCK. Instead of a saddle that the through bolt just drops into they require you to drill a hole after cutting the saddle shorter and line that sucker up with the engine dangling to get the bolt in. No thanks. There's a reason that I build DC k-members. As for the biscuit mounts, many people over the years have made their own because that was all that was out there and it was cheap and very easy to do. Companies like Schumacher made it easy for some, but I'd rather spend thast money on another part of the car.

Hey guys, first of all, thank you for responding. I'm new to this forum, but have been building this 1973 Dart for almost 10 years. Grew up building Mopars with my dad. I bought the car when I was 26. Went from green to red, small block to big block, and everything in between. Finally at a point where my kids are out of diapers and I can really get back at it.

Schumacher refunded my money after I put a claim in with PayPal. Thank you for suggesting that.

I'm going with the motor plate. I already have the inner fenders cut out and might want to race this at some point. I plan on going with an electric water pump and electric fan. The only belt should be the alternator.

Thanks again for everyone offering their help!

Look at 440 source. They should have what you need.
