I'm sure this has been answered, but it was hard to find a specific answer by searching the forums. Thank you for responding if you're able to.

I'm converting to disc brakes. The kit says I need to regularly use the parking brake to adjust the rear caliper. My plan was not to hook up the E brake. Is there a way to adjust the rears permanently without hooking up the E brake, or is it easier to just hook up the E brake?

Most rear calipers have a helical drive to account for brake adjustment, this is why you thread the piston into the caliper when changing pads and not push them in with a clamp. The parking brake adjust pad engagement so if you plan to not use a cable ever so often crawl under and move the lever. I'd just hook up the parking brake because that is the safest thing to do and it will adjust the caliper with no worries.

Why don’t you post a link to the exact kit you used? There are several kits out there and they use different calipers.

There are a couple styles of rear caliper that depend on the emergency brake being used for the adjustment though. And if that’s the style of rear caliper you have, then you should hook up the emergency brake and use it like the instructions describe. Unless it’s a race car I don’t know why you wouldn’t want an emergency brake anyway.

Thanks guys! Here's a link to the kit, but I'll probably just hook it up.

I used the stock brake cables when I did the 65 Belvedere. No mods at all. I would think the A body should work the same.Did it way back in 2002.Still works .

Those are just Cadillac Seville rear calipers in that kit. I had them on the rear of a Jeep before and they were horrible. If you really don't want to use the park brake just use a set of S10 front calipers. They are nearly identical without the park brake lever and you could add a Mico lock for a park brake instead.
