Why don’t you post a link to the exact kit you used? There are several kits out there and they use different calipers.
There are a couple styles of rear caliper that depend on the emergency brake being used for the adjustment though. And if that’s the style of rear caliper you have, then you should hook up the emergency brake and use it like the instructions describe. Unless it’s a race car I don’t know why you wouldn’t want an emergency brake anyway.
