I'm doing an interior color change on a 73 Duster from beige to black. I've got the dash frame out. But I'm having a hard time finding correct paint; for that matter I'm not even sure what's correct.

The original dash paint was low sheen, but very smooth. No heavy texture. The fellow who owns the car also owns a 72 that is already black. That car has dash paint with a definite texture. I'd call it a grain pattern similar to vinyl or leather.

So question one - did the texture of the dash frame paint change from 72-73? I'd like to know what right. Question 2 - can anyone recommend paint that's correct for a 73?

I used this. Very happy . Looks shiny in pic but is satin finish. Pic outside in sun drying.

I used Rustoleum texture paint from Home depot, its not wrinkle finish, just has a texture to it.

The SEM paint is smooth as well. Spray bomb or buy a quart and spray yourself. I painted accent trim on my boat with it and it still looks good 12 years later.

Jarrett, the last couple of dashes I did I used John Deere blitz black. Martin equipment has it in spray bombs. Kev
