-are going to go with this huge recession/depression or not blowing through our economy?

Do you think certain or any used vehicles will INCREASE in price?

It looks like people that had tremendous savings or retirement money could stand to lose significant value of their spending power over the course of the next few years.

I worked for the government in 2006-2008 when the economy went through it’s last recession and was deployed additionally so I missed much of the struggle.

It seems to me that significant debt created now will be inflated/deflated? Into nothing in a few years.

I know a girl in my Texas Government class that inherited a paid off home in the city with 44,000 due in back taxes that was offered $2800 for. Seemed like a mess to get into but a consideration with homes in the city starting at over $100K and yuppies buying these old homes for twice that value (or price).

so $2800 buys a house with a $44K tax lien on it? still sounds like a half price house to me in Texas...
Only thing I can think that would cause a hitch is what kind of loan would you get for $47K if the house listed for only $2800? Personal loan?

Hopefully the prices drop so we cal all get more of the cars we want.

No they give her that much money, pay the $44,000 in back taxes, refurbish the house for $45,000, and sell it for $110,000-$250,000 afterwards.

You get them distributors yet?

Pretty tough to eat a 340, no matter what you put on it. The value may hover, but there will be plenty of deals. That will in turn drop the pricing. Those who have plenty will hold out, but the budget builder will be looking to liquidate. Probably within a month or two from now.

IMO

Prices are dropping over there....
A lot of cars popping up on fb at reasonable prices already....
Pity our dollar is 63cents....

That’s kind of my point. Classics are falling out of the trees here, but are getting snatched up as well. I saw a 68 Malibu survivor, running, original paint & interior, 307, not dents, the most mild of surface rust on roof-$12,000 sold in 3 days, a 1970 rolling chassis $5000, dozens of late 60’s (67,68,69) darts with decent bodies pop up for sale, and get bought quickly.

More market movement than Ebay in years...

When the majority of people don’t have extra money to spend I see prices going down.

There isn’t a majority though. There are levels. Some people are still working, so the market isn’t dead, just dying-until recovery ten + years from now.

So people that were buying new cars every few years are now looking into the used car market, and the trickle down should create a greater demand for used cars. Each layer of used cars will now have more competition in consumers. The need to drive will not decrease after quarantine, even if everyone’s budget is fractured.

Not everyone can turn a wrench. The internet is adamant that new car sales are dead, and dealerships in trouble.

It looks like this is the age of the mechanic, the used car dealer, kind of right up our alley. Yet also a time to get double ripped off on the used car market.

I agree with that mechanic part fully. There will be opportunity for those who can provide a service. As long as liability doesn't interfere.

Agree 100%. The more folks have to scramble for the basics...water, food, shelter, the more luxury markets will get hammered.
I agree. While I'm good for a few months or so with a drop of work... I'm still skimming off the top of my stock pile...triples of anything goes first..but I'm still a buyer! Lol

Thanks for lettin me know.
Lots of irons in the fire, college going strictly online has quadrupled the difficulty of stuff

Every study subject has a sevenish digit code for each class (now online board meetings with software called ‘zoom’)

some lessons got hacked, so new codes every time, each teacher puts their codes into a different place in the college webpages, 10 minutes wasted, a few times a day (Mon-Thurs),

The first computer I was using to login to school was blocked by the school after spring break, 2nd (remanufactured) blinked off my work several hours in-computer still on, running, just the software I was using edge and word blinked out,

Group projects with people whom are so supposed to be tech savvy too scared to communicate together, or pulltheir share or responsibilities

The daughter has an iPad? With codes for her science, reading, math, English/language classes-I still haven’t mastered the scan the black and white square bar code thing with my phone

Checking her work, keeping her working, cooking the meals, cleaning the house (so much more respect for mom and grandma)

Watching her play outside, then having to track her down safe

Satellite internet at this house so it’s good enough for three classes, but not enough for my math teacher whom demands to see me through out class-so twice a week I drive to my sisters house with my kid, get her quiet and listen to him or take tests, 4 chapters to read a week, a 70 year old aunt to check on, like you said @RustyRatRod , a few ahead.

We all got our own bag of rocks.

The wealthy are buying up restored cars and swapping them like mad these days. The ones with project cars or lower condition vehicles are letting them go cheap as they struggle to maintain their finances.

Just check the high end sales sites and see for yourself.

The market isn’t dead, it has just shifted. In short order you can expect the project cars to gain ground as the restored ones finish swapping hands. Then the ones who wait to sell their mid quality cars will find higher prices when they do...but it will take a bit longer to find the buyers.

With google willing to work with local authorities in tracking people be it phone or GPS on car for social gatherings, I see the price of nice but older daily drivers (not Road runner or 340 Dusters) going up in price. Maybe??? Who knows.... roll the dice and buy some nice 4 door diplomats, aspens, coronets, St Regis... :D
