Hello all,
My father-in-law and I are restoring a ‘74 A body dart sport with 3.7 slant 6. I am in the process of replacing all suspension bushings and ball joints. So far I have replaced everything on the driver side and I have run into an issue where the spindle is rubbing against the balljoint nut and threads at full droop?!?!? This is causing severe binding. It’s only at full droop. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Full droop doesn't happen with shocks on it.
You aren't planning to run without shocks are you? :poke::D

Worn, broken, or missing bumper...

Theres really no way anything can go wrong, other than the bumpstop missing or broken.
Likely shocks are correct. Arm should be on bumper before shock tops out. it will never be an issue sitting on its wheels.

thank you for the advise, I check it out once I get home and check the bumper.

Almost doesn't look seated properly. Wrong ball joints/taper? 1974 could have been disc or drum.

Checked for options, only 1 ball joint listed for each side.

That ball joint isn’t seated. Tighten the castle nut. If the ball joint is spinning you may need to use a jack under the LCA to put some pressure on it so the taper doesn’t spin when you tighten the nut.

Assuming the taper is correct.:D

Well yeah. But the bolt holes line up, and Ma Mopar changed the bolt size and spacing more than the taper size on the lower ball joints. So unless something was made incorrectly they should work.

Now, that said Moog once sent me a castle nut with no threads inside, so, anything is possible. That was the last time I bought moog stuff. Their quality is pretty terrible now.

Ok guys, update. It was the rubber bumpers. There was no bumper left. Also tortion bars were set to the lowest ride height possible, and lastly the severe negative camber wasn’t helping either.
