What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
Done. The dry clean seats all sound good no squeaking when spinning the valves. I'll go get some plexiglass and a syringe in the next few days then do my math and order up my head gaskets. The slugs are sitting 0.080 in the hole and the bore is the stock 3.91. This engine will need a lower end rebuild when I drop the 360 in. It'll get a 4" arm and a 0.040 bore to give me a 392 WEDGE to match the 392 HEMI in the '16 Charger.

Today, I'll be finishing up the brake lines, and installing the new master cylinder and distribution block.

I've never bench-bled a master cylinder before. Is it pretty straightforward?

Have been wondering what is going on with "Righty Tighty" ?
I see you are doing brakes now...

You have a Drum/Drum car there, looks like you have a Disc/Drum master cylinder there with the larger reservoir for discs.

Check out this A Body Drum/Drum 15/16" bore manual master cylinder on ebay.
eBay item number: 262971884427

Have used these Raybestos MC36338 drum/drum masters for manual brakes before. Nice improvement for drum/drum manual brake cars.
They give good pedal feel and stroke.
Rule of thumb: the bigger the master cylinder bore the harder the pedal pushes and the shorter the stroke is.

You want the master cylinder reservoirs to be the same size on the drum/drum cars.

And yes you want to bench bleed the master before installing on the car. Check out some YouTube videos on how to do it.

Well crap. I didn't think anything of it, because A) the old MC I pulled off had two different sized reservoirs and B) that was the p/n they pulled up at the parts store. We specified 10" drums, etc. I had no issues with the brakes previously, but I did notice a difference in throw of the piston between the old vs new ones. The piston on the old MC bottomed out about an inch shorter than the new.

Unfortunately I've painted it, so that's $90 down the drain unless I can sell it and recover some cost. Thanks for the info on the Raybestos, I'll head down to the parts store and get it ordered. Luckily, I'm on pretty friendly terms with the fellas there. We'll have a good chuckle when I shame them for steering me wrong.

Yeah, I'm doing brakes now. Long story short, I decided to rebuild the front end while the engine is out, and well, you start taking things apart and noticing more and more things that need replaced/rebuilt. I hope to put this thing to bed in the next couple days so I can get the motor in.

And re: bench bleeding, I assumed it was pretty straightforward, and my suspicions were confirmed with just one video. Seems really easy.

I have been working on fabricating a bracket to mount a 5" tachometer from the windshield pillar in my '67 Barracuda. I have a couple of versions going, and getting close to having a "good enough" one. It's funny, making incremental changes to the original design i had has made it much simpler.

Let’s see some pictures, I know a guy who’s looking for ideas...

Put 4 new pioneer speakers in my truck. Still running the stock head unit. Not totally happy with the sound yet. 2001 F150. Maybe need a new head unit. With backup camera.

Oops, forgot this stuff...
I only need to use the outer spring with my cam (lunati 10200701).
I cant remember the part numbers for the retainers and locks.

im spitballing a project in my head
my mother in law lives with us and shes getting up in age
ive noticed it hard for her to get up out of her lazy chair so i figured, why not build a frame, that attaches to the frame of the lazy chair, extends up and out a little, that i can put a handle on?
that way she can pull herself up
so, i got it all drawn up in my head, and called in to the local steel supplier to order it

wouldnt you know it...im 8 dollars short of their cash sales minimum...so i decided to also order the steel i need for my subframe connectors

We've been working hard on Jake's first car (He's 15 years old) and it's just about ready for cruisin' season. Original slant-6 car with a 440/727 swap from a low mileage RV. He and I also overhauled the transmission on our own. So far everything is running, driving & stopping great! (Wilwood front discs with QA1 uppers, reinforced lowers and all new bushings, ball joints, etc.)
Next up will be the addition of an 8 3/4 rearend.

Always good to have another hotrodder in the heard!

Love the car, bonding and ( going to use this one ) the T- shirt !

Same paint you use for Dashboards. Some other shots during the restoration. Yes the orange needle needs to be repainted. But the hobby shops are closed.
