need a little design help

hey guys

come Monday, i will be building a little frame that goes under a lazy boy

my mother in law lives with us, and I've noticed she's got a hard time getting up out of her chair

so the idea is to build a frame that sits under the chair, with a horizontal har going up with a handle on it

I'll try to ad a picture later, but this is what I have in mind, 3 pieces of 3/4 by 3/4 angle iron on the floor, in a U shape
the two legs, so to speak would run under the front and back of the chair, the bottom of the U on the right hand side

in the front right, where the two pieces of angle come together a 1 x 1 square tube will extend up, with a brace at a 45 degrees angle going towards the back of the frame (still running on the right hand side)

now, here is my question
will the brace going to the back be enough to support the vertical tube?
I'd say most of the forces pull that way, but I don't know if I should try to add a gusset across the front

(I kinda want this to be stealthy, but sturdy)
