Intake Manifold Question

If you block the ports you have to wire it open, or remove it! Headers are an even better idea.
Use thin 26-21 gauge stainless steel, monel, titanium (anything that can take the heat) sandwiched between the gasket and the head.
I thought that’s what I said...
 
Just buy the one with the block of plate that come with that gasket.

Metal shops will have the thin stainless you need and cheap. I don't know the gauge size but mine are .017 thick. I cut it to fit and used contact cement to hold in place until manifold was bolted on. No issues , 30 years and have pulled the heads a few times over the years , and the stainless plates still look new and no leaks . The intake gaskets 'absorbed' the thin plates. I have to use a gasket scraper to remove them when the heads are off.
 
You guys are overthinking this...cut 2 pieces of sheet metal slightly over size of the port...slap some sealer down and install them...install intake and GO

On one of my trucks I cut pieces of thin stainless which happened to be almost as thick as the gaskets, then traced around them on each gasket, cut with exacto knife and then installed sealing everything as normal. IMO better than laying on top or underneath the gaskets.

Here is sorta a morph between both ideas and what I found when I removed my intake this morning! The hole in the gasket is "slightly over size of the port" so I can lay the gasket and then "slap sealer" on the metal to hold it against the head inside of the gasket cutouts.
I cut two pieces from a SS trash bin that had a catastrophic accident when the automatic lid failed while I was holding a messy, screaming baby and the mother of all loaded diapers.... Anyway...
