Looking to get new tire rod ends for my 65 dart. I see everything from $20 a piece up to $60 A piece. I know some of it is quality and some of it is brand. I need functional not high-performance. Will the $20 ones be at least satisfactory?

Hell, O'Reilly's got em for less than $10. What's the worst that could happen?

Had a good customer bring another near flawless restored 70 SS Chevelle by he recently did, has another about done.
He installed new AC Delco front suspension parts.
One of the tie rods was moving, and the center link was I call flopping, so it’s gonna have play in the wheel, and the tie rod will fail eventually, and if the center link gets bad and fails, you lose control of the steering.
Buy Moog and don’t look back.

I just bought a set of the Proforged tie rods for my 66 barracuda. They are really nice quality parts. I used to only by Moog, but the last few parts didn't last very long.

I used to only buy Moog but then Moog decided to start buying cheap chinese garbage and that was the end of that. Sad to see a great mfg sell themselves out like that. I had the same experience with Aeroquip. I used to love buying Aeroquip adapters since they were so well made. Then one day I picked up some new parts and they looked like crap. I asked the dealer why the adapters looked like garbage and he said that Aeroquip had decided to have their stuff made in China by peasants who couldn't read blueprints. The threads were rough, the castings were rough. Just real garbage compared to how the parts used to look.

Only the Moog parts that begin with a R part number is garbage
R=Chinese
All others are made in Merica

Proforged.

Moog is absolutely garbage now.
I have to agree the last couple pieces I bought with moogs name in it was trash I used Detroit axle stuff in my truck it seems to be really well made guess time will tell. For my dart I bought SKP I haven't installed them yet so I cant speak about how they last but they look strong. Have nice joints and good strong boots

just removed moog lower ball joints on the dart. one was binding or some ****. steering feels so much nicer since i changed them out. and will be removing the moog idler arm in the near future because i just have questions of its quality..

proforged seems to have a good following these days.. lots of guys like the higher end napa stuff also..

Moog's I installed a couple years ago, the boots are split and almost gone. Chinese rubber.

I had trouble finding a Moog pitman arm recently for a job. Ended up using Pro forged looked nice, made I think in Taiwan.

Napa chassis used to be made by Dana, and was a quality part.
I had an ambulance that the county put Napa ball joints in.
Drove it 10 miles to the shop for an alignment, and both lowers were moving.
Put Moog in it, and done. That’s why they call it the problem solver.
All metal internals on the fulcrums on Moog.
Many other manufacturers are using plastic in the ball joints so they don’t bind, and they don’t hold up.
In a heavy duty application there is nothing better, I see this stuff everyday.
You get good and bad with everything, but I’ve seen people never grease a Moog part and 2 years later it’s still intact.
The biggest drawback is cost, their not cheap.
I’ve put Moog in my junk for over 20 years and never ever wore a part out.
Now I have replaced a few things over the years under warranty, though it’s normally due to never greasing the parts.

i don't know.. i've seen so much bad posted about moog on various forums in the last couple years. then my own recent (last week) experience make me not trust moog any longer. will not be using them in the future. once a great part. not so much today in my opinion.

Moog has a cheaper line called the R series and they are cheaper. Made in China
Guess which one most people buy?

I bought a bunch of ACDelco parts. They're made in Taiwan but they look really good.

i don't knowingly cheap out on parts, especially with suspension/steering parts. i bought the problem solver moog parts part numbers started with a "K". i'll have to see if i can dig up the receipt. i'm finished with moog, you use what you want but moog is done in this garage.

Taiwan has stepped up their game.
They make some quality stuff now and then.
They also lead the world in the Covid 19 response 6 deaths and 3 hundred and something cases in a country that is stupid close to China. Plus there economy isn’t tanked and the schools are open.
This car has AC Delco on it, all new, and half the crap is moving. Brand new

The problem is that the Moog parts you put in your car 20 years ago were actually good parts. If you buy moog today they will not last that long, and probably won’t even be right to start with.

I have a set of moog tie rod ends I purchased a few years ago, they’re all made in the USA. All are new in the box. A couple of them are so stiff they’re hard to move, you can hear them scraping and binding when they do. The other couple are completely loose and floppy and already have play in them straight out of the box. That’s moog now.

I’ve never bought an “r” line moog. Even their US made stuff that’s been sold in the last few years isn’t worth it.
