Manual brakes work fine, drum or disc.

I totally agree. I think many of the folks on this forum would agree too. However- manual brakes can be scary for people who have never used them. If you have multiple drivers who might take the wheel, it could be cheap insurance.

My pops recently got his '67 GTX back on the road, 100% stock. That's easily my favorite car that I've ever driven...but I'll be damned if stopping a big block B-Body with manual drums didn't make my heart pound for the first couple tries...and I have manual brakes in my Dart (4 wheel disk) so theoretically, I should be more prepared than most.

Our brains calibrate pretty quickly but there's still those first few stops...
I don't second guess anyone who wants a booster.
