I talked with Dave Layson directly and he said his "exact reproduction" hoses do have the same type paper-like cover material and the proper diameters on each end. He says the only thing they don't have is the built in clamp that the originals have. If you don't need the original look for a show car, He also recommends just getting his rubber version, as they are a bit stronger and less likely to tear.
