Hello all. I am the proud new owner of this very unique car.
There is not an abundance of information out there, so l am asking for help and assistance with a few things.
MY findings so far: indeed a Canadian built car- windsor plant -only offered for sale in Canada not US.
Believe originally sold in British columbia and spent last 25 years in ontario as a 1 owner car.
Custom 200 not signeT. Original color red but changed to blue when restored.
Still has numbers matching rebuilt drivetrain with 273 v8, column automatic, white split bench interior, white power top.
It is identical to the 1966 dodge dart 270 convertible with the following exceptions: valiant lettering across hood nose and trunk, custom 200 badging on interior front door frames and quarter panel stainless trim minus dart 270 embossing.
1966 Canadian built valiants all used the 1966 dodge dart front clip
This is where there is CONFUSION??
The vin tag with original rivets on drivers side door jamb start with letter "L". witch indicates being " dart not "V" for valiant.
I am under the understanding that in 1966, this Canadian built valiant convertible could be sold at both Plymouth OR Dodge dealers hence no badging on cars to indicate it being a dodge or Plymouth.
I also have the 1966 owners manual which covers valiant/barracuda which includes no indication of Plymouth or Dodge, Just marketed as 'Chrysler corporation'' on the front cover.

I AM INTERESTED OF POSSIBLE PRODUCTION FIGURES FOR THIS CAR. SURE NOT MANY AROUND IN THIS CONDITION.
ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. PHotos available soon

Yes your car was built in WAP on Tecumseh Rd in Windsor.I believe the Canadians had the Valiant and the U.S. had the Dodge dart .I have one.Actually the same car except for a few things.Im trying to get info on my Dart also form Chrysler.with not much luck

Be careful claiming numbers matching engine and trans before 68 (IIRC) there were no vin markings on either. Best you could get was the engine build date being far enough ahead of the car build date but not too far it too close.

Congrats on the unique car. You would for sure have people scratching their heads at US carshows

Agreed. Guess better to say year of manufacter correct.1966 date code heads, block and trans. Verified on decoding numbers.

Agreed. Guess l should be saying year of manufacture on numbers as verified 1966 numbers on block, heads and transmission through decoding these components.

I go to a Mopar show on Whidbey Island in WA every year and there is a woman who drives hers down from BC every year

Paul also reiterated that fact. Not much info out there. Think you can get some general overall production FIGURES but no breakdown even for sedans, wagons, coupes, convertibles like other years and models. Then there is canadian/US production on top of that.I know for sure that this car was built exclusively for the Canadian market and NOT offered for sale in the US.
Seems like a treasure hunt to say the least.

Slick looking 'vert, good luck with your hunt for information.

That's a good looking car! I like it! Does it get warm enough in the summer to drop the top?

Absolutely. Bought the car in January hence the snow. Haven't even driven it yet.
Once this virus is behind us and hopefully we RETURN to normal, it's drop the top, for the whole summer.
Top goes back up only l when ready for hibernation again. Nice weather crusin only .Lol.
Stay safe All

That is one nice looking Valiant. Love that colour.

What's that white stuff? I hope you didn't take that picture yesterday?

My brother bought a new 65 Valiant Signet convertible, 273, in '65. I am going to look for the sales brochure, later. I am curious to see if it says Plymouth, anywhere on it. These cars were quite popular, when new, in Toronto.

I think they were the Plymouth Valiant .

Here is my owners manual.
No mention of Plymouth or Dodge whatsoever front to back. Included barracuda and valiant 1966.
Verified with another gentleman in Quebec with the same car ALSO that his car indeed has the vin tag confirming the "L" as the first digit. My fender tag and rad support begin with "L" as well.
So, as the owners manual states on front cover, no mention of dodge or plymouth but product of Chrysler Canada Ltd.- sales division Windsor Ontario. Have the "9" in my vin confirming Windsor built car.
Let the head scratching continue.
As stated earlier, this car was produced only for the Canadian market and NOT SOLD in the US.
Also was sold at both Plymouth AND Dodge dealerships in 1966 until things changed in 1967.
