Need help identifying this A833 please!

I'm looking at buying this A833 to go into my 71 Demon. I'm told it came from a Duster 340 car. Looking at the pics, it doesn't have the "PP..." numbers stamped on the tail housing, so I'm a little lost in confirming what it is from for sure. Amy help is appreciated!

Originally 66/7 A body. 23 spline input, 26 spline output shaft...same as 904 TF. Will work in 71 Demon. The linkage is installed wrong on the trans.

Yep, 1-2 & 3-4 are upside down. If you don't have the oilite bushing for the rods, save yourself some time & aggravation by buying them before installation.

Who sells oilite bushings for the shift rods?? I have some that look like they may be powered metal or something but some are fractured and falling apart. I do have some plastic looking ones that I have no idea where they came from, but I’m not sure how durable they would be.

I’d rather have oilite if I can get them.

Save yourself the time & aggravation, do not use the plastic bushing. Brewers & Hurst sell the oilite bushings. Mr Gasket sold some cheap bushing that are probably similar to what yellow rose has. And just as an added precaution, be sure to use the off set clips to hold the linkage arms on the shifter & transmission arms.

Hmmmm...went to the Brewers web site and an only find the junky steel ones like I already have. Guess I’ll call them here in a bit and see if they still have them.
 
yellow rose, oilite is a trade name, to simplify, the are like the material that a pilot shaft bushing is made of. I hope this helps.

Yeah, I know but all I find on the web site was the clips and some stainless washers and some steel bushings. I’ll call them in a bit. If I can make my own linkage and use hiem joints I may do that.
 
anyone have a good photo showing the correct linkage orientation for me? I'm missing a rod also... right?

You can skip that second picture that was just the guts LOL..
Here's what I can tell you from going from a normal Hurst shifter to a vertigate....
I use the same reversed Rod but I have to flip the reverse lever on the transmission over because the action is opposite. On a regular Hurst shifter you go over to the left and forward on a v gate shifter you pull backwards on the lever so the action is opposite so the ear needs to be flipped over but the same reverse rod...
Of course I made my own straight rods out of material I bought from Ace hardware and I did weld the little tabs come to the allthread that hook onto the shifter ears on the transmission. One thing I noted when I went from a normal Hurst shifter to the v gate is I had to switch the one two shifter and the 3-4 shifter ears on the transmission. They still faced upwards but the offset needed to be changed..
So again all the ears on the transmission had to be taken off and either flipped upside down or switched...
 
Here are the ones that I made several years ago. Adjustable at both ends, they work awesome and are so much better than the stock sloppy linkage.

I made my linkage out of 7/16" rod, made the mounting bracket so that all the rods were straight, 3/8" Teflon heim joints on both ends, drilled and tapped heim bodies to accept the 7/16" rods. Shortened the shift levers so that there's only about 1.5" travel between the gears.works great with a Hurst ramrod and faceplated box.

Hi guys I’m looking into buying a manual transmission for my 68 Barracuda. I have a 340 with a 727 automatic in it now. There’s one posted for sale, it’s an A833 New process but apparently this was made by Chrysler for GM? Can anyone confirm if this is something that would fit into my car or not? Could I modify it to fit? Or is this for GM’s strictly?
