IIRC there's a 4 year cycle as well as the 17, correct?

There are 4, 7, 11, 13 and 17 year periodic cicada cycles. It depends largely on the area in which you live as to which ones you get. The 13 and 17 year ones tend to be the largest by numbers emerging.

Annual cicadas are different and emerge in smaller numbers each year like other insects.
