Slant dies when cruising.....

getting back to Dusty after a bit. doing a dizzy inspection. everything sends petty clean and moving freely, but one of the springs for the internal weights is 1) big and 2) never really engaging. the second picture is at full advance and the spring hook is just starting to touch the post.

look correct?

Thanks FABO!

Looks stock normal to me.
The big spring (garage door spring as we call it) is suited for trucks and heavy cars to make a long advance curve.
For a more performance oriented timing curve I replace that one big spring with a Mr. Gasket 925B spring.
That brings in the total timing around 2,500 - 2,800 RPM's which is more suited for the lighter hotrod cars and trucks.
Especially manual trans.

If you get a limiter plate from www.4secondsflat.com you can run a nice initial advance and the limiter plate keeps your "All in" timing from going to high.
Those stock distributors work really well if given a little attention.

You can also still get the Napa MO3000 rotor for them that is .030 longer on the contact tip so it burns the rotor tip less, especially when running hotter that stock coils.
